The process for setting up the ISA was long winded, and the call centre did not alwats help. It took a long time for them to get the account opened.

Avoid Santander at all costs

I’ve had my mortgage with Santander for 12 years and only missed a payment once, when there was an online banking issue with my bank,... I’ve had my mortgage with Santander for 12 years and only missed a payment once, when there was an online banking issue with my bank, People’s Bank after it was acquired by M&T. I called Santander and explained that I paid it on time, and had a letter from the bank, so they waived the late fee. Come to find out, that is the ONLY time they will waive it during the 30 year term!!! So fast forward a few years to present day when all my accounts at TD Bank are compromised, my money stolen, recovered, new accounts set up, and I call Santander to explain what happened a couple days after to be sure my payment was received and explain what happened, and learn that the bank returned my payment, so I sent a new payment that day and then paid the following month. Now, this is at the end of the summer as a teacher and single mother of 3, with very little money to begin with, so those 2 checks cleaned me out until I started getting paid again. How did Santander respond? $40 late fee and not one, but 2 notices of intent to foreclose on my loan, which took 12 days to arrive in my mailbox. Shameful. I will never do business with this company again, and will tell everyone I know to do the same. Read more Read less

Avoid business account with Santander go elsewhere

Despite having held as business account with Santander for over 5 years I have to say the experience is dreadful. It's impossible to speak to... Despite having held as business account with Santander for over 5 years I have to say the experience is dreadful. It's impossible to speak to he "right" department in one call despite phoning the number on the letter that they send. Once you do get answered which is normally after a 12 minute wait you are put through to a "verification" team who can't verify ANYTHING. Simple requests take an eternity and you get charged for the pleasure of being looked after by a team of incompetents. AVOID opening a business account with santander. Read more Read less

    Dreadful experience with Santander policy

    I have cancelled my policy with Santander as no help was given with our claim from a water leak.. We asked twice for an assessor... I have cancelled my policy with Santander as no help was given with our claim from a water leak.. We asked twice for an assessor to attend and assess our shower leak and had no reply on both occasions. Our plumber sent in many photos and reports on the issue also to no avail.
