To get a mortgage they are ok, they were very slow at a time interest rates were going up which cause a higher rate. They also advised I would port a mortgage and get a new one and later merge them which after all is not correct. And now that I finally just got 40% equity they reduced the home value so the deals on offer are lower. Smaller houses then mine for for more than their pathetic valuation… this just confirms they are ok to get you in and hope you lazy and not intelligent and stay with them while they rip you off Read more Read less

I have had my mortgage and a few bank accounts with Santander for a good number of years. The communication and use of the app has been so easy. Recently I unfortunately fell for an online payment scam. I called Santander the following morning. 2 days later the money I had 'spent' was back in my account. Read more Read less

I have a 123 current account with Santander. It was very easy and quick to open i did it through the app/website. I could easily manage/check my balance online and in the app. The santander app is probably one of my favourite banking apps i have used. its very user friendly and easy to use. The interest rate was good at the time comparing to the rest of the market however it would be great if this was higher. Read more Read less

I have never had any real problems with Santander Business banking, apart from a few years ago when they tried to start charging people to have this kind of account. Fortunately, this was stopped and it remained free. This week I received a letter from them informing me that as from 1 October 2025 this account will be converted into a Classic account and incur a charge of £9.99 a month in order to "simplify their product range". I'm out! Read more Read less

    Unhelpfull and Heartless

We have had a joint account with Santander 13 years, it's our main bank account, never been overdrawn and always several thousand in credit, now retired we needed a debit card to facilitate cash withdrawl, went on the Santander on line banking site, no mention of debit card or how to get one, rang Santander, they told me I can't request one on line or over the phone, the conversation was that I needed to download the Santander App or visit a branch, I don't do banking on the phone, I know many do but I don't trust it, I enphasised that I can apply for a mortgage on line, I can take out Credit cards, open accounts make payments of thousands of pounds, yet I cant get a debit card for use on my own account, Santander told me I had to go to a branch, Santander continually close branches, making them further and further away for many, their actions are detrimental and discrimitary to the elderely, the disabled and those who are of limited resources and cannot drive, for us to visit a Santander Branch is a mornings outing if driving, best part of a day by public transport, for us both to go by public transport would cost around £30. I have now recied a letter of Deadlock following my complaint, stating Santander have done nothing wrong, is Santander stupid or just plain heartless and uncaring. Read more Read less

Strong impression that the bank have little time for customers . I approached my local branch 4 times since May 2025 for certificates of interest which they have a statutory duty to provide and on each occasion that certificate was not available and still isn’t . The branch are unable to explain why and the complaints department which I phoned today made it impossible for me to complain . Their „ security questions „ were such that I , as an old person was unable to answer . I need to do my tax return and will not be able to rely on the required certificate . Read more Read less
