Opened a help to buy ISA with Santander.

Opened a help to buy ISA with Santander. It is a good savings account to have as it will help me with buying my first home, however the interest rate is very low and you do not get to see your 25% bonus until you are using the money. This makes it less motivating to save as it doesn’t feel like you get many benefits from having this account compared to other savings accounts (Moneybox Lifetime ISA) Reviewed on: 5th February 2024

Decent app

This account was ok but I ended up switching to a lifetime isa due to the higher government bonus per year. Santander's app works well however, so I would still recommend a help to buy ISA with the bank. Reviewed on: 8th February 2023

Good but Lifetime ISA is better

The Help to Buy ISA is a really good idea, lets you save with an added 4k government bonus when saving for a house deposits. Maximum 250k. However, I closed my Help to Buy and transferred to a Lifetime ISA as the benefits are much better - government bonus of max 1k a year (no upper limit on years), and maximum house prize of 450k. Good bank for fraudsters

I am the victim of identity theft and criminals are applying for accounts and credit cards in my name. Santander happily set up the account without due diligence. Three weeks, six calls and a formal complaint later, the account is still open and Santander still insists it is genuine. In the meantime ten other banks have stopped the process, removed searches from my credit report and reported it as fraud to Cifas. Santander does not care, their actions are actually supporting the criminals. Whenever I call I need to wait for at least an hour to deal with rude and unhelpful staff. Honestly avoid at all cost! Hard to Use

So I took out this product, I no longer need it/ its not sutible for me I tried to cancle , has to be done in bank not on app web or phone, and they tried to sell me a mortgage, I still have it and want it closed, so time consuming and not very helpful. However if you just want to save each month and view in the mobile app, its brilliant. just not for me and hard to remove. Reviewed on: 1st November 2021

Easy and Reliable

An savings account that still has a decent interest rate is increasingly difficult to find, and this one was easy to set up and to regularly transfer money into - so now I'm one step closer to owning a house! Reviewed on: 25th January 2020

Fast and easy

I thought signing up to open a bank account would be time consuming...but with Santander help to buy ISA it only took 5 minutes. I signed up online and it appeared on my online banking app straight away. Reviewed on: 4th February 2018

Help to buy ISA - great rates
