Made a claim, lots of passing from number to number. On occasion not passing on details so needed to be repeated. Intermittent updates and needed to be chased several times. Final day holding on line 3 times for a combined total of 1 hour 40 mins. Reviewed on: 23rd August 2024

Total Loss for with this insurance provider

I renewed my car insurance for the second year in June 2024 with my UK provisional license. Upon passing my driving exam, I called customer service to update my insurance with my full UK license in July 2024. The insurance provider had doubled my monthly premium because of this update, to my total surprise I needed to cancel my insurance immediately as I called and updated them on my situation. This is my total loss of 2 years of continued holding the insurance policy. Due to this, I have to take another insurance on the high policy price which was not planned. I feel this is unfair to me. As an insurance company, my understanding is to feel safe after taking the insurance, but it worked the other way around for me. Reviewed on: 18th July 2024

Tried to increase premium 250%!

They kept saying they had emailed renewal. They never did. One minuscule ding in car park sent my insurance from £800 to £2000 lol. I got insured via money supermarket for £600. Yes that's right it was less. This insurance company (it's not really Santander) are a disgrace tbh. Reviewed on: 12th June 2024

Watch out for their sneaky automatic renewal policy...

Watch out for their sneaky automatic renewal policy buried deep in their terms and conditions. Everything is communicated up until this point by email or through the online portal but the automatic renewal notification is sent by post !! I cancelled on the day that it renewed (they told me by email the night before and it was a Sunday night so I could not phone them to cancel) and was charged £25 cancellation fee ! This is a dirty practice and it's typical of Santander living up to their poor reputation. Avoid ! Reviewed on: 20th May 2024

Nothing but praise for Sarah and Santander Insurance

I have renewed my car insurance with Santander for the second year running. I spoke to Sarah yesterday and she was both professional and helpful. She in fact saved me a little money. I have nothing but praise for Sarah and Santander Insurance - well done. Reviewed on: 25th February 2024

Great price

The renewal price with my current insurer had increased from £320 to £560, but I got it for £425 from Santander. And the staff were very helpful. Reviewed on: 7th October 2023

Is it just santander

I was in the process of changing my car ..informed santander and gave a change over time and date in 3 days time was charged £25 to change over to the new car but the deal fell through the next day ..they charged me another £25 to change it back to the original car....is it just santander or would all car insurers do that...?..dont think I will reinsurer with them in September Reviewed on: 16th August 2023

Hey if you are thinking of getting a finance for your car from santander please do not do so.. As they only look for ways to take your money.I had finance with them and my car got stolen I have reported the car stolen and they were still proceeding to take the monthly payment. After my insurance company have payed them out they were still going ahead with the payments. And i am really not happy with their customer service not up to the expected standards. Awful and unprofessional

Zero stars is still too many for this rip off company! Wanted to buy a car, apparently one to two days and the finance is through but not if you are a foreigner and doesn't matter if you have a mortgage and a settled status as well as send in four utility bills and council tax, bank statements, your driving licence and your passport, it is still not enough proof that you live at the adress you gave them! Just wow! Over a week in and they kept asking EVERY DAY for the same stuff over and over again! Then finally apparently all has gone through to just get the question to send in ALL THE STUFF THEY ALREADY HAVE AGAIN!? What is wrong with this bank!? I had my finance in place but no the car has to be with santander! Ridiculous!! My friend is also at the moment trying to get her mortgage through them UNFORTUNATELY and exactly the same problems, earning double than most people! What is your problem with foreigners? Don't you think we earned our way to where we are? Do you think it feels great to always have to proof 150 percent more than anyone else? Ridiculous and absolutely not professional! Now with a hard search on my credit but no car and having it even harder to get another car I am more than fuming and will tell literally everyone (university is full of foreigners) to stay away from this bank!
