Not worth the effort

Applied, no option to add my wife as an authorised user and assigned a £1,100 credit limit when my avg. monthly credit card spend is £3k (reference agencies will show I have always been a credit card full payer with exemplary credit record and highly stable profile). Then had to wait for activation code in post but didn't work. After spending over 60 mins on phone with 4 agents, including fraud (OK, that's re-assuring) they had to order me another activation code through the post. So, just set myself up with on-line account which triggered several automated emails telling me things like my mobile / home phone numbers had been updated (they were the same numbers I used when applying). I finally got to a screen telling me to phone or go into branch to update my phone numbers. Nah! for a measly £1,100 credit limit I've finally run out of energy and enthusiasm for dealing with Lloyds Bank. Reviewed on: 12th March 2022

Avoid at all costs. Will waste your time.

I went through the online application for a bank account. I was asked to visit a local branch to verify my ID and residence address. It said that for the former a driver's license would suffice, whereas for the latter a tenancy agreement from a letting agency would work. After waiting for a considerable time, I've been told that noone at the branch recognizes my lettings agency. My letting agency is not even a mile away. I was adviced to go to another branch or to make a doctor's appointment, where a doctor could confirm my address (using my tenancy agreement as proof of address himself..). I tried various times to contact another branch about 20min by bike away, but noone picked up the phone. When I arrived there they told me that my tenancy agreement was fine, but they wouldn't accept my driver's license as ID, because it doesn't have an expiry date on it. Also, on my tenancy agreement the district was mentioned. On the online application that field was optional, so I left it out. Because of this, I had to redo the whole online application. Now I am back at the branch and even though it says nowhere that an appointment is necessary, they ask me to wait for 45mins until someone with the authority becomes available. tl:dr: Although it should be just a formality to open a bank account after the online application, the Lloyd's Bank knows how to waste your whole day, making up problems and regulations that where previously never mentioned. Miss informed - disguisting

My father (he has recently passed away) as executor of the will, I have been deaing with all his financial affairs. One of those was his Lloyds credit card, which has a balance on the account, the account was his with my mum named as an additional card holder. After informing Lloyds credit card about his death, that there is no money in the estate to pay debts never mind covering the funeral expenses. I was then informed by the advisor that when I take the death certificate into the bank that I need to arrange a consolidation loan in my own name to repay his credit card. This is an illegal move as by the bank. As following legal route is no money / funds etc then the debt will be wrote off. Never mind that I am upset at losing my father but to be blackmailed into this by the bank is disguisting Reviewed on: 5th June 2016
