Lloyds Ultra Credit Card

Introduced last year and is an excellent product offering with an attractive 1% cash back for the first 12 months including transactions abroad with no currency exchange fees. The only niggle is the need for better communication from the bank with larger value transactions, which they view as suspicious, causing unnecessary delays with your purchase ; need a smarter way to allow you to verify such transactions before rejecting outright without compromising safety ! What's the point?

I applied for a credit card to pay HMRC. After I was approved I was told I had to wait till I received an offer before I could transfer the money into my current account to make the payment. This offer only comes around at the beginning of the month but no guarantee that it will. So what's the point then? If I wanted to pay HMRC direct from the credit card, it would be deemed as a cash withdrawal, and I would be charged 5% interest over and above the interest I would already have to pay. This is ludicrous and not at all user friendly. Reviewed on: 10th February 2025
