Kite features disappointing compared to adult app

Great features for adult and 16+ accounts. Presumed my 14 year old’s kite app would enable him to have spaces too so he can save for different things but unfortunately I can’t see that feature so will need to look elsewhere. Reviewed on: 19th February 2025

Generally good. Shame kit does not work on Google pay.

Unpredictable

I have found the kite account unpredictable. Many times my daughter has been out with friends and her card has been declined it then says to enter PIN which she does -the transaction is still declined. The adult account never has this issue. We are now trying to upgrade to adult account but not enough information online to make this smooth transition. Reviewed on: 12th April 2024

Please take a look here for where Kite cards are accepted - https://help.starlingbank.com/personal/topics/starling-kite/where-is-the-kite-card-accepted/. If your child is over 18 years old, they can have a standard current account, if they are aged 16-17 they are able to open a Teen account, otherwise they will only be eligible for the Kite card. You can't convert the Kite card into another account, and the account holder must make a new application themselves. If you have any further questions, please call us on 020 7930 4450. I set up 2 kite accounts as i am a foster parent and it can be difficult to get paperwork for the children but i then changed phones and have been unable to set up Starling bank on the replacement phone. Reviewed on: 12th April 2024

Does not support Apple / Google / Android Pay

Fine for in-person transactions if your child has their card with them. But without support for on-phone payments, I cannot recommend. Reviewed on: 12th April 2024

Mainly im very impressed but you have let your self's down , back in October I opened a Kite space for both my kids , & was unable to connect kids kite space to there app - I spoke to you a few time & was told at the begging of the year you would have a better easier system in the new year - well its now March & I'm still waiting & my kids are still waiting to be able to view there accounts on there mobile - so sorry but until that is sorted i'm unable to recommend starling to any-one Reviewed on: 13th March 2024

Decent basic account for kids

Brilliant account for kids. The only problem is that it is linked to a parents account and not a stand alone account with monitoring. I think £4.00 monthly charge is a little excessive but on the whole not a bad account and superb app. Reviewed on: 16th March 2023
