Triodos for personal banking

I moved my personal banking to Triodos from First Direct and Nat West in 2021 for ethical reasons. No regrets so far, but as I'd used Triodos for business banking since 2002, I was pretty confident that things would work out. As a bank, they are largely free of gimmicks, and offer a no nonsense basic service which doesn't surprise, but just works. They do charge for current accounts, but when banks don't charge, you have to wonder how they finance that. The web interface is good, though I prefer the old version. All in all, a trouble free bank, without the unethical baggage of supporting fossil fuel companies, and with a pro-environmental and prosocial agenda of supporting renewable energy and low carbon projects. Banking with a conscience

Our social enterprise has banked with Triodos since 2012. The service has always been first-class. We can speak to a person when we need to, and online banking is simple and straight forward. Our capital is not funding sectors that contribute towards climate change. Reviewed on: 15th April 2025
