Virgin Money Pre-Paid Mastercard

I found the pre-paid card was a great way to help the offspring when they were travelling abroad. The scheme allowed for a second named card to be added on the same account. Website management page gave useful information on where the money was going. I thought it was a good way to manage travel money for them without much risk. Overall no more expensive than Western Union etc. Reviewed on: 7th June 2018

Never Use the Useless Thing

They gave me a £5,200 and I was thrilled. Initially tried to buy a laptop with it and was denied. Constantly. Consistently. Aggravatingly... every time. I made multiple calls and was told it was working now... no, it wasn't. I stopped trying to use it. Recently, I received an e-mail offering 0% on balance transfers for a year with a 4% fee. Fine, I'll transfer the balance for the laptop back to this card, right? No, I went through the tedious process several time, changing my password when it told me THAT was now wrong. Putting in the same info time and time again. That was last week, tried again just now. It started by telling me the password was wrong again. Get this card for a high credit limit... that you can NEVER bloody use. Completely useless. Reviewed on: 5th October 2023

Best credit card customer service

Absolutely fantastic customer service. No long queues to speak to a human. Their advisor was helpful, understanding, and courteous. Shewent over and above to ensure my forgetting to renew my cardcwas handled without fuss. Such a worse service provider, I used virgin money credit card and when I realise unexpected charges cut from my card I tried to complaint to virgin money after freezing my card and everyday I called an after an hour waiting no one resolve my issue and they keep charging me the amount which I don’t even used, i won’t go this services and never recommend to anyone to use this services Reviewed on: 16th September 2023

fraud department don't care

I've had fraud committed on my virgin credit card, called 3 times and waited over 3.5 hours in total over the 3 calls. They still can't resolve it and are still charging me for transactions I didn't perform. Horrific customer service. Avoid virgin money!! Reviewed on: 8th September 2023

Awful customer experience and paper-based beurcracy

LONG STORY SHORT: The call centre staff are not well trained, they are not equipped to do anything over the phone. You can sign-up online without any unusual ID checks. If you then want to do anything. You need to be prepared to do it by post, sending originals, or officially verified copies. ITS 2023, why is it so hard!!? LONG STORY: They have an incorrect DoB for me. As requested I went to a Virgin Money store, where I then had to sign and post a copy of my ID. 2 weeks later, its not updated. My wife has called for a new PIN as an additional cardholder. Told the agent she would fail as my DoB is wrong, they said its fine, fail security, call back get to a higher level and they'll fix it. She failed security, when she phoned back, they have blocked my account and my card. The only way to fix it now is to verify a copy of my passport, send an original proof of address by post and they'll unblock the account (which is yet to work for changing my DoB, I have no faith). The call centre staff don't know what to say but "sorry, its the company policy" on repeat. If I didn't want the Virgin Miles I would just leave it blocked and walk away! Do not be won by airmiles they are not worth the horrid customer service

Everything has to be done on the app - if it doesn't work you can't make a payment - customer service is phone holding for min 30 mins max has been 2 hours - just not worth it rates are insane also. Reviewed on: 24th July 2023

Weak Security, Shambolic Customer Services

I have endured a terrible experience with Virgin Money. Their weak security allowed my account to be hacked. Despite my immediate attempt to inform them, they provided terrible customer service. Even to the point of refusing to provide statements or even allow me to close the account. Reviewed on: 18th July 2023
