Horrible experience -- avoid, avoid, avoid.

Horrible experience -- avoid, avoid, avoid. We as a family (2 adults, 3 children) joined WPA in May. Every single claim has been an absolute nightmare. For example, a claim which has been approved and then -- after seeing the consultant -- retracted unless we could submit a copy of the full medical record (is that even legal?). I've had someone from WPA calling me about my son, and after authentication, and then being put on hold for a while, being told that after all they cannot talk to me about my son since my husband is the main policy holder and that the form of authority that he signed does not include access to my children's information (??). And the latest: I've asked for some osteopathy sessions after I hurt my back. 4 sessions were approved after I was referred by a doctor. However to get the other 6 sessions on the policy, you need to: have the osteopath fill in a 2-page form called a therapist report. This takes 7 days to review. After the 7 days, I was told I also need a full copy of my medical records for the past 5 years plus an NHS GP referral letter. Not a private GP. Not a NHS physio. It has to be an NHS GP. It takes weeks to get either. It takes precious time from NHS doctors which frankly could be put to better use. Any claim takes a minimum of 4 days to reviewed, even the urgent ones. Avoid. scam

I've been with WPA for 10 years, anything I claim for is not covered! I was paying for me and my wife over £500, every year premium goes up this years premium was over £650 they don't cover kidney, heart, epilepsy plus more stay away from them, you're better off paying for private treatment then paying large premiums Reviewed on: 20th October 2023

Unprofessional and do not keep promises made

I need to express my deep concern and disappointment regarding the treatment received by me as a policyholder of WPA . I have been diagnosed with type 3 prostate cancer and was scheduled to have an operation on the NHS, which unfortunately got cancelled. As a result, I turned to WPA for help, who informed him that I had "Unlimited Cover" for my cancer care. However, my experience with WPA was not as expected. After I arranged a new operation via WPA, I was subsequently told that I was liable for a £2100 surcharge. This is unacceptable and has caused me significant financial stress and hardship during an already challenging time. WPA was reluctant to investigate this matter and provide an explanation for this unexpected charge. I was under the impression that I had comprehensive coverage under my policy, and it is deeply concerning to learn that I faced such unexpected costs. Reviewed on: 15th February 2023

Incompetent and unprofessional

We asked for a authorisation code which they gave us after so many stupid questions unlike my previous medical insurance company, and they told us to come back with a procedure code , and when did they did not know what it was and rather to pass us to the right person she the call handler was asking so many dumb questions and it was obvious that she was stalling us and we told her the consultation is in two days time but she told us she has check it out and will comeback to us and we later realised she was not even a clinical person so how a professional company have such poor customer service where they can provide so false statements and stop peoples genuine claims and prevent them to have their procedure and even provide incorrect email address for the consultant to return their inquiry , this only means that they only wants to slow down customer’s claims and for them to miss their procedures. Over 60, CHECK YOUR POLICY

Well, I,m still here with my IPF condition. As long as I am I feel duty bound to warn all senior customers of WPA to triple check their policy to ensure they will be covered if and when needed. I was diagnosed with a long term terminal illness that will only benefit from realitively cheap (£3500pa) outpatient treatment. Member since 1985 and recently paying £600 per month in fees (£7200pa). I put in a claim to WPA to cover this cost privately rather than putting extra load on The NHS. I was informed that I only had £1K per year cover for outpatient treatment. I checked with the ombudsman and he confirmed that the WPA contract was watertight. So my absolute advice if you are over 60 is to triple check the small print. Please do not think for one moment that they will show any compassion, care or concern. In my view it's all about the money. My own advice would be to put your monthly fee into a 4% annual savings account and use the money for what you might need when you actually need it. BEWARE. The only benefit to me in this situation is to warn others for as long as I can by leaving truthful reviews like this on every possible review and social media site. Reviewed on: 16th December 2022

Don't Trust Them, they don't care about uou

I have just received a marketing email from this bunch of liars suggesting that there are three secrets to happiness. One of them is freedom to choose. Please, please do not fall for it, they don't care one little bit about your freedom to choose or your circumstances. DO NOT TRUST THEM. Dumped when I need them most

Age 72, diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. Estimated lifespan 3-5 years. Paid into WPA for more the 30 years. Because my condition requires outpatient consultations and tests to monitor the condition and provide the best treatment I have only £1000 per cover from WPA. I currently pay £6600 into the scheme. I would recommend anyone to look closely at their cover and just put the monthly subscription into a savings account. The answer from WPA was to send my a document that I had to read with a magnifying glass. It informed of all the limitations. I suggest you ask for this because you will get a shock. Be warned! Beware If You Get A Terminal Disease That Isn't Cancer

This is the start of my complaint about WPA, how it proceeds will depend on their response to my case. I have a terminal condition called Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. The life expectancy is 3 to 5 years. It is not called Cancer but has the same outcome as some bad Cancers. If I had Cancer I would be covered under my 30+year policy. But because it is not called Cancer I have an allowance of only £1000 per year for consultations, tests and outpatient treatment. I currently pay £6K a year into my policy with WPA. If I had known this fact before signing up I would have just put my money in a savings account. Lets hope they see sense before I lose the plot and go very public. Reviewed on: 28th February 2022
