Review of the WPA Health Insurance, Health Insurance:

A company that can be trusted

I would like to add I totally agree with Amanda Barney’s and RME review. WPA are extremely efficient and sympathetic when making a claim. It is totally effortless and they give you an immediate decision. Would not change to any other company Reviewed on: 9th January 2022

Top customer service and excellent health policy

5
Excellent policy with full coverage, including existing conditions, no limits. No stress when I needed surgery about policy coverage which is always a worry with other providers. The customer service was the best I received from a health insurer, they even called post my surgery to check everything was ok. This provider is better than bupa and axa - and they actually care and go out of their way to help. Reviewed on: 13th September 2024

They will spend days to build a case not to provide the private medical care, the underwriters dictate WPA. Go elsewhere, not worth the hassle. Reviewed on: 9th July 2024

Scam don’t sign in

When I first signed up for WPA, I was promised top-notch medical care and support. However, my experience has been far from satisfactory. Every time I contact their GP service, I am urged to see my personal GP instead. It begs the question - why am I paying for a service that constantly redirects me elsewhere? To make matters worse, the GPs that WPA collaborates with are a nightmare to deal with. Rude, dismissive, and lacking in basic bedside manners, they have left me feeling frustrated and abandoned. When I raised these concerns with my intermediary, Frank Coelho, he simply washed his hands off the matter, claiming that the GP service has nothing to do with WPA. Feeling utterly let down by the service, I am left with no choice but to write a scathing review to WPA. Their lack of accountability and poor quality of care have left me questioning the value of their services. It is a real shame that such a promising concept has turned out to be nothing more than a disappointment. Reviewed on: 4th July 2024

Expensive and poor service.

Expensive and poor service. Went to WPA about a problem with my knee. Had problems finding a specialist who would work with WPA. Then every step of the way yet another form is required to be completed by the specialist, slowing everything down, including authorisation for a scan. The phone app is also useless and simply complicates matters. Reviewed on: 16th May 2024

Avoid, avoid at all costs.

I would give 0 stars, but don't have that option so 1 star it is. I'm in need of surgery due to chronic knee pain, but the invoices for my consultations have not been paid since late February. When I called, the person I spoke to was not particularly helpful and had a general "can't be bothered" attitude. Reviewed on: 4th April 2024

Change their minds when it suits them

I have WPA Health through work, I changed jobs last year and transferred my account from WPA to WPA in the new company. I spoke to them directly about a GP referral I had before the transfer to check it would still be covered, they confirmed that I was covered and was pre-approved for the claim. So far, so good...but then... Once I had my results, and the treatment option was given I went back to get authorisation. At this point, WPA suddenly had a change of tune and decided that "it had become apparent" that I had a referral from before the transfer and declined to approve any treatment and then also added a personal exclusion for my condition so I can never any treatment again. Ridiculous! If I had known I would have got a new referral but they SPECIFICALLY told me it was not an issue - until it benefits only them to use anything against you just so they don't have to pay out. Unfortunately, many of my colleagues have had similar negative experiences with WPA - avoid them. Reviewed on: 5th March 2024

My partner has had some health issues and we have been claiming on the WPA Insurance. Months after treatments were paid for and treatments completed I have not been reimbursed a single penny. They did not reply to an email I made enquiring for over a month and the WhatsApp chat contact line representative did not even offer an apology! Terrible service, expensive premiums, AVOID and choose another provider. Reviewed on: 23rd February 2024

Horrible experience -- avoid, avoid, avoid.

Horrible experience -- avoid, avoid, avoid. We as a family (2 adults, 3 children) joined WPA in May. Every single claim has been an absolute nightmare. For example, a claim which has been approved and then -- after seeing the consultant -- retracted unless we could submit a copy of the full medical record (is that even legal?). I've had someone from WPA calling me about my son, and after authentication, and then being put on hold for a while, being told that after all they cannot talk to me about my son since my husband is the main policy holder and that the form of authority that he signed does not include access to my children's information (??). And the latest: I've asked for some osteopathy sessions after I hurt my back. 4 sessions were approved after I was referred by a doctor. However to get the other 6 sessions on the policy, you need to: have the osteopath fill in a 2-page form called a therapist report. This takes 7 days to review. After the 7 days, I was told I also need a full copy of my medical records for the past 5 years plus an NHS GP referral letter. Not a private GP. Not a NHS physio. It has to be an NHS GP. It takes weeks to get either. It takes precious time from NHS doctors which frankly could be put to better use. Any claim takes a minimum of 4 days to reviewed, even the urgent ones. Avoid.
