good customer service, not always the cheapest

great customer service, helpful phone line, great fraud protection emails to verify unusual payments on the go. avios are a nice perk, but not totally convinced on their value in relation to the spend required to generate them and their onward purchasing power Reviewed on: 29th June 2017

Great service

I have experienced excellent customer service from AMEX. My card was cloned and they blocked it immediately, couriering me a new card abroad within 24 hours. Reviewed on: 10th June 2017

Enticing, but not completely convinced

BA and Amex offer an irresistible offer for sensible lenders to earn Avios points for their everyday purchases. They had a fantastic opening offer, giving me 9,000 points if I spent a certain amount in my first few months -- enough now for a return trip somewhere in Europe. Points come in slowly after this though, and I'm yet to know if the points will be worth something more than a simple jaunt to Europe for one. App and integration with Apple Pay is better than with Lloyds Bank's cards. Reviewed on: 31st May 2017

great for business travel

if you want to travel in luxury but can't afford the fare, this card is for you. The 241 voucher allows you to take a companion for free in the same class if you've accrued enough air miles. With a bit of tactical spending, it's not that hard to accrue plenty of miles and it's definitely worth it to sit on a business class flight knowing you've paid the equivalent of an economy ticket Reviewed on: 2nd May 2017

Simple credit card with good benefits

I have been using AMEX for 3 years now, and I am very satisfied with it. On the few occasions where there has been a problem, they have dealt with it promptly. The opportunity to collect AVIOS is not to be missed, and they have regular offers to save money. All in all excellent service and highly recommended. Reviewed on: 30th April 2017
