Absolutely don't buy!

1
Absolutely don't buy! They only take money, no help. I waited 3 months for the garage. From 16 of July my car is in the garage for They say there are no parts. No information, no contact from garage. (Bodywise on Kirkcaldy) I was writing a complaint to the Bank, they write lies that they talked to the garage. I went to the garage, the garage says that no one talked to them. My car had an accident on April 1 and it is still in the garage!!!! 6 months!!!! The Bank of Scotland no help and customer service are very bad. They are not interested in your car or help. I wanted to take the car back I said I would take it and that when the parts are there I will bring the car back. They started lying that the car has to go through inspection, that it is in the garage disassembled and they have to check what is broken. My car has been parked for 2.5 months and they haven't checked what's broken? And they said earlier that they were waiting for parts. What parts if they don't know what's broken? Don't buy this insurance! I'm warning you. Reviewed on: 30th September 2024

BANK OF SCOTLAND FOR CAR INSURANCE? NEVER AGAIN!

1
I had an accident in my car, which was my fault (first accident in 40 years) and my car was written off. I called BOS who put me onto the ACTUAL insurers, who in turn put me onto the company to arrange pick up of the car. Who then put me onto the person who was collecting it. Four different companies/entities. I tried to insure my new car with BOS but it was four times the price, even with my protected no claims of 9 years (which actually was 19 years since a no fault criminal damage in 2005). I have been told that even though my car was written off, I still had to pay the policy until the renewal date nine months later. DO NOT USE BANK OF SCOTLAND CAR INSURANCE - they are not insurers, they are brokers and wash their hands of you in the most awful of times. I wanted to give them no stars but had to give them one to be able to write this review. STAY CLEAR! Reviewed on: 17th September 2024

Competitive and helpful, but don't be stung on renewal!

4
Bank of Scotland offers competitive prices for car insurance, but like others, they do have a tendency to put prices up after a year, although this time I found them helpful in matching a better quote I'd got elsewhere. They send your renewal information in a paper format which is unusual, and I'd prefer to have it electronically to save paper and the environment. But overall, they are easy to deal with and helpful. Bank of Scotland, Very fair insurance company

I signed on with Bank of Scotland Insurance last year when I come to renew this year my insurance actually went down £20 I was amazed Reviewed on: 23rd August 2024

LEAVE THIS COMPANY ALONE THEY JUST WANT MONEY

1
The system will NOT allow a change of vehicle ,you have to take out another policy at a greatly inflated price eg renewal 390 pounds change vehicle 1400 pounds dont touch em with a barge pole Reviewed on: 26th March 2024

Rip-off renewals.

1
Rip-off renewals. £271.59 last year. This year, same car (one year older), extra year of no claims discount (9 years now) and no other changes at all - exacltly the same policy. Guess how much ? £694.37. That is a 156% increase. Why don't they jsut send a letter saying they don't want to insure you, please go elsewhere. At least that is honest. Found elsewere for 31% more, still bad but that is life these days with people with "normal" cars paying for others with complex EV imports with no parts, etc. I should pay based on me, where I live, what I use my car for and the car I own. Cost of living crisis is hard enough.

1
Cost of living crisis is hard enough. Charging an ammendment fee is way ut of order as amending a policy is mandatory if there is a change or you are committing a crime. So why charge for it. Especially if I changed it via online without having to falk to someone. Its an outrage that they do nothing to help people. Am either losing out anyway I go. Also why have a car on an Insurance group when they pick and chose other reasons to make sure they get more money. I have dropped insurance groups but my insurance has doubled. No such thing then. Its a give me the money money money world nowadays and no good customer service anymore. Its all about wanting cash than giving out good service. No wonder so many people think ending it stops the pain. Reviewed on: 26th February 2024

Avoid

1
So I purchased a brand new car EPower hybrid. (i get one every 3 years) 1500cc. My previous insurance was £465 to insure a new car 1500cc in 2020, well last night I called to change insurance to new car and was informed that only one of their insurers would insure it but its slightly more expensive. £1365.00 I laughed and said how old do you think I am, I can assure you I am not 18. So I then had to cancel my existing one as I don't own the car anymore and they are charging me £35 admin fee. I went to direct line and got full insurance with protected no claims, like for like courtesy, replacement car if written off. legal protection for less than half of what Bank of Scotland wanted me to pay. £671. Why is car insurance so flipping expensive now, Reviewed on: 31st October 2023
