Covea Insurance - Absolutely Appalling

My experience with Covéa Insurance has been completely appalling. I reported a claim in early March, some days later I was contacted and informed that an SP30 from August 2025 had not been disclosed. I had, in fact, reported this to my broker, Santander UK, and subsequently provided written evidence of the disclosure to Covéa. Despite this, Covéa contacted me to inform me that they were: Applying a 21% penalty for “non-disclosure” of the SP30. When challenged on the evidence submitted, they confirmed that they had this on file but no-one had bothered to read or review it before applying the penalty. I was informed that they would refer the matter to management and I would receive a call in 3-4 days. Several weeks later, they have repeatedly failed to provide updates or resolve the claim. I have made calls to the customer service team, who have basically been rude and obstructive: I have been implicitly accused of dishonesty, with suggestions the documentation submitted for proof of disclosure was not valid. I have been promised many call backs, none of which have been honoured. I have been met with repeated refusals to let me speak to a manager, on the call today, I asked to speak to a manager more than 10 times, and the lady I was speaking to refused to even check if a manager was available, instead informing me that the evidence provided for the disclosure was insufficient and that a manager would "just tell you the same thing". On the call today and when I was again accused of non-disclosure and dishonesty, I said that I would make a report to their CEO, I was told to “do what you like, it won’t make any difference” I said that I would make a formal complaint and involve the Financial Ombudsman Service, I was promptly informed that the route to the Financial Ombudsman would be "blocked" by Covea whilst they investigated the complaint internally, a process I am informed takes a minimum to 6-8 weeks. My broker Santander has also been brought into the mix as they claim that Santander failed to pass on my disclosure and were now refusing to respond to any communication from Covea. So essentially, no apologies for the delays and lack of communication on their part, just a shifting of blame and obnoxious statements about how they will handle any complaints that may be forthcoming. As of today, 20th April, the claim remains unresolved with no clear outcome. I am relatively lucky my vehicle is still driveable, there was no other vehicle involved in the incident and no-one was hurt. I can only imagine the situation I would be facing if it had been a serious collision... That said, I am facing significant body work repairs and the insurance premiums that I have paid, have effectively been for nothing! There are no circumstances under which I would deal with this organisation again and would not recommend them to anyone. Read more Read less

Dear Covea Insurance, I am writing to express my profound disappointment and frustration with my recent experience as a customer of Covea Insurance. While I aim to convey my dissatisfaction without resorting to slander or libel, it is imperative that my concerns are heard and addressed. My journey with Covea Insurance began with the expectation that your company would provide support and protection during times of crisis, as insurance is intended to do. Regrettably, my experience has been quite the opposite. Instead of feeling reassured, I have found myself grappling with a sense of betrayal and disillusionment. One of the most disheartening aspects of my experience with Covea Insurance is the perception that your company places its own interests above those of your customers. It is deeply disconcerting to feel that, when we needed you the most, Covea's policies seemed more like illusions designed to evade payment rather than genuine support. In times of distress, we turned to Covea Insurance only to be met with outdated rules and an apparent reluctance to fulfill your obligations. The departure of your former CEO, who never showed genuine interest in the well-being or continuity of our family business, added to our distress. We entered into our insurance agreement with Covea in good faith, believing that we were forming a partnership built on trust and integrity. However, it has become abundantly clear that this faith was misplaced. It is my sincere hope that Covea Insurance will take a long, hard look at the way it conducts business and serves its customers. The experiences of countless individuals and businesses like mine should serve as a wake-up call. We placed our trust in Covea with the expectation that you would be there to support us when we needed you most. Instead, we have been left feeling deceived and unsupported. As a potential turning point for Covea Insurance, the appointment of a new CEO presents an opportunity for change. I implore the new leadership to reconsider the claims and concerns of your disappointed customers, to reevaluate your policies and practices, and to prioritize the well-being and satisfaction of those you are meant to serve. In conclusion, I write this not out of spite or malice, but out of a genuine desire for improvement and fairness. I hope that Covea Insurance can learn from the past and emerge as a company that truly cares for its customers. Until then, I feel compelled to warn potential customers to exercise caution when considering Covea Insurance, as my experience has left me deeply skeptical of the company's commitment to its clients. Undoubtedly, the most disappointing car insurance experience I've had in my 23 years of purchasing coverage. Despite my accident occurring on April 29th, it is now June 5th, and there has been no discernible advancement with my claim. Numerous emails and phone calls have yielded no progress whatsoever. It's my own regret for choosing such a company, as I had no idea that Post Office Insurance would employ such an abysmal underwriter. I have filed a complaint with the financial ombudsman and am currently enduring the agonizing wait for a resolution to this prolonged and distressing claims process. Read more Read less

My mother (in her 70s) has spent over £400+ per year on these people who basically did nothing in the one claim she attempted to make with them. Offered absolutely no help whatsoever with guttering that fell across her front door because she had the "wrong type of rain" when the guttering fell, leaving her completely vulnerable. Complete waste of money and very unethical practices. Avoid. Read more Read less

Following a plant trailer theft and damage to a commercial vehicle we discovered we had the misfortune to have had insurance with Covea for the plant trailer. The vehicle damage was dealt with promptly by NI G insurance and paid within weeks. The other claim has run on for months, no one from Covea has bothered to visit site to assess the details and has finally been refused. We have now lodged a dispute with the Financial Onbudsman. I would avoid this company at all cost. Read more Read less
