Genuinely Ethical

I first opened an account with Ecology Building Society in the 1990s, and only closed the account because I needed the money, so when I again had some savings I opened a new account a few years ago. I prefer to deposit my savings with a company I am confident will use it wisely. I am convinced the EBS are committed to protecting our precious environment and they would never knowingly invest my money in anything unethical. Reviewed on: 4th November 2024

They use my money for what I want borrowers to use it for.

I have had £200 in my savings account with The Ecology for many years. If and when I get enough money I will put more money in my savings account. Reviewed on: 7th April 2021

Perfect!

Trustworthy and innovative

I have been a member of Ecology Building Society for over 10 years. Since the beginning, I have been impressed by their pioneering work to support eco-friendly building projects and investments. They keep their members fully informed whilst using a minimum of paper and maintaining full confidentiality. I have enjoyed being able to trust their handling of my savings, while finding out about sustainable living projects that their members have been able to achieve with the help of Ecology. I always look forward to the really informative newsletters from the Ecology Building Society which always reconfirms their very thoughtful, inspiring, environmental and ethical approach to business. A great, small, ethical bank that makes you feel like you're contributing to something positive!

Banking with Ecology, although they're small and still catching up with the giant banks on some IT elements, is great. Their ethos and commitment to lending to individuals and communities to build environmentally-friendly homes make you feel like you're contributing to something positive through where you bank. A wonderful savings bank where your money is invested in projects that prioritise the environment

It is refreshing to read how investments with the Ecology Building Society are spent. Many of the projects they back through their mortgages are really inspiring. A savings bank whom I completely trust to manage my money both ethically and with commitment to the environment in mind. Ethical, caring and future-facing

My husband and I have saved with the Ecology Building Society for around 28 years now and have always been impressed with their commitment to sustainability in their investments and approach, as well as in their own office set-up. Their Customer Service is superb; you speak to a named person who is unfailingly friendly and helpful. I inherently feel they are a trustworthy and honourable institution, and how many banks and building societies deserve that accolade?! I cannot recommend them highly enough.
