An ethical Building Society

I have been a saver with the Ecology Building Society for many years. I appreciate the ethical aspect of their products, the staff's approachability and efficiency. I think it is a standout building society and would heartily recommend it to anyone who wants their investments to benefit the community and the environment. Reviewed on: 7th April 2021

Recollections of a non-executive board member, 1986 - 2000

I became a non executive director of the Ecology Building Society in 1986. I served in this role until the year 2000. We were a remarkable board: between us, there was a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. We gave up our time to promote the society's work; our AGM's were well attended by the Society's membership. Each gave proper attention to the formal tasks but also developed fellowship between ourselves as directors, the staff and the members. In planning the AGM, we gave space to other green concerns to share their concerns. Perhaps, above all, there was a powerful sense of our responsibilities, both to our members and to the guiding principals bsaed in the Society's rules Reviewed on: 7th April 2021

Mutual aid always

I have been with the Ecology for more years than I can remember. Their ethical foundation is a fine example of money working for good. I can manage my account online so I don't lose touch with my investment. Reviewed on: 7th April 2021

Responsive, friendly, professional, competent

Since banks have increasingly moved online, the Ecology Building Society has maintained a high standard of personal contact banking by phone or email. Their customer service is faultless and their administration is efficient. They are also very good at keeping you informed of changes and of developments that may be of interest without trying to sell you anything. And, of course, they are devoted to a sustainable future for all. I wish we had a branch in our town! Reviewed on: 7th April 2021

Straightforward and guilt free saving

Decent rates, ethical values, would recommend.

I've been an investor with Ecology for a many years. The rates for ISAs are competitive, the underlying values of the Society drive their behaviours and they walk the talk. Their website is functional and does everything I need. They are an early adopter of green credentials and I intend to invest with them for the foreseeable future. Reviewed on: 7th April 2021

I have saved with Ecology Building Society for a number of years because: I support its purpose of lending to support more environmentally friendly communities and eco-homes; savings rates are competitive; the Society provides informative newsletters about its work and interesting members' AGM/day; it lives out its mission in an impressive way its own operations..
