I would warn everyone about taking pet insurance out with Legal and General. My wife phoned them up to inform them about an issue with our dog. She had also previously declared operations our dog had. L&G approved the operation over the phone and emailed forms to us. They then posted out the same form. The dog had the operation. We paid the vet up front as is normal practice.the claim was then made and l&g declined it!! To make matters worse my wife received a phone call from them to confirm decline. They insisted it was a previous condition which my wife challenged. My wife used the example of a dog requiring a grass seed removal as a a comparison. The l&g representative ( wait for it! Said that was a condition!) . My wife then said she wanted to escalate via the complaints procedure. A few days later she got an email confirming the outcome of the complaint. So in short nobody even contacted her as part of this process to get her view as to why it was a complaint. I cannot stress too highly that you stand a very high chance of paying premiums to this company with nothing in return is very high. They also do not take any complaints seriously. We’ve used other pet insurers and they’ve been fine

Disgraceful profiteering

Avoid at all costs. My dog developed heart issues and knowing that I couldn't change to another provider due to the fact that if I did the heart issue wouldn't be covered as it'd be a pre-existing condition, they doubled my premium from £75pm to £150pm. Read more

Avoid at all costs. My dog developed heart issues and knowing that I couldn't change to another provider due to the fact that if I did the heart issue wouldn't be covered as it'd be a pre-existing condition, they doubled my premium from £75pm to £150pm.

Upon complaining I was told simply that I had claimed more than I'd paid so I was getting a good deal. Last time I looked that's not how insurance is supposed to work, in that instead of reimbursing me for being out of pocket when the worst happens, I am in fact reimbursing them for the inconvenience of them being required to fulfil the role of an insurance company.

Absolute disgrace of a company, steer well clear.

Rip off....

Dogs insurance trdbldd from £343 to £952 ,£609 increase. Customer service reply ,it is what it is

Rubbish

3 months to settle pet insurance claim, very little corrosponce despite sending numerous emails and attempted phone calls. I will not be renewing any of my life or pet insurance policies at renewal, more stress than it's worth.

Too quick to cancel

We had one missed payment which caused them to cancel - thankfully they reinstated it when called but not enough time given for this.

I have being paying all year and haven't claimed but my policy has gone up quite a bit so will be cancelling!

Pet Insurance Reviewer

I've enquired about claiming on my pet insurance for an ongoing health problem. They didn't make it clear that once I claimed for this illness I wouldn't be able to claim do it again under the policy we have .
