Monese is not what it says on the tin!

I have been using Monese almost from the outset (more than 8 month by now), as I love to support start-ups and disruptive businesses, but there comes a time when one must expect even start-ups to be working fully and to deliver a quality service – unfortunately this is not the case with Monese. At the beginning, I was willing to ignore teething issues, but these seem to be continuing and even get worse as time goes by. Over time I have experienced issues with limits relating to cash withdrawals, both in UK and in Germany, I have found out that I cannot make bank transfers to 3’d party countries, I cannot move funds from my PayPal account to my Monese account, their support takes up to 3 weeks to answer even messages marked URGENT, their support is only available between 08:00 and 17:00 UK time and only Monday to Friday, you can maximum have £ 40,000 in your account at any given time – and I can go on. On top of this, they have now started charging £ 5.00 per month for the account, an account which turns out to basically be a pre-paid VISA card! Truth be told, I do like the philosophy that they sell, being a UK bank account for everyone living in EU where they offer standard current account features, but I am afraid that I feel they not even live up to that! Monese, I am sorry, but I will now start to look for alternatives to you – you have disappointed me dramatically by "selling" a product which I feel you have not delivered! We've definitely learned and improved a lot since back then, including things like expanding our support capabilities, adding Eurozone accounts and launching a new Starter pricing tier that doesn't include a monthly fee. No customer service, this bank is ghost

2 YEARS!! im trying to reach customer service with no success as im trying to log on to my account from a new devise and is not possible as the system after the email verification fails and ask permission from my old devise ( 3 devises back) that is in the bottom of the sea. they send me periodically emails that i need to update my details BUT i cannon log in to the account. today their last email is that they will cancel my account for inactivity. 2 f##ing years im trying to reach customer service wow! they deserve an award for this. I am extremely disappointed with Monese. My account has been blocked/disabled, and I am unable to perform any operations, whether internal or external transactions, or even use my card. To make matters worse, my savings are completely locked, and the customer support is unresponsive. I have sent numerous emails, attaching all required bank statements, but all I receive are the same automated replies with no actual resolution or communication from their team. This has been a frustrating and stressful experience, and I wouldn’t recommend trusting Monese with your money. Avoid this service at all costs. Reviewed on: 17th January 2025
