Awful customer service

We bought a pet insurance for a friend who adopted our cat. We asked to post the policy details to the friend who is in her 80s. We chased for weeks and despite confirming the address and name of the policy holder they “refused to post the papers for privacy reasons”. Never dealt with a team with such a lack of understanding what privacy means. We never asked to disclose any personal information and only asked to send some papers to the policy holder whose address and name was on the policy. Only when we made a formal complaint the poorly trained employees finally agreed to post the necessary documents to the policy holder. Reviewed on: 2nd February 2024

Money grabbing bastards

12 years of insurance with this lot. No claims in 10 years and no claims for this cat. Price hike of £186 on last year’s premium to just under £500 because my cat is over 12. Got a quote from leading competitor for less than half at the same level of cover. “Well sir, that will be because of the new customer discount”. What about a loyalty discount you bunch of crooks! life saver for broken pooch

Our Pomeranian badly broke her leg in 2 places due to a freak sofa accident at home. More than covered the cost that was over 4,000 pounds, with us just having to pay a £250 excess. The claim process was very straightforward with no fuss or qualms. If we hadn't have had this cover, we really would have struggled. Reviewed on: 14th July 2019

Good for younger pets

Beware, totally callous, ruthless and unscrupulous company.

Totally callous, ruthless and unscrupulous company, to say the least. Pet owners, beware. Not content with completely scamming my daughter (who started her policy fourteen years ago, ergo a long-term, loyal customer) and changing the terms late into the policy rendering it no longer fit for purpose in the final days of her beloved spaniel's life, MORE THAN insists on my bereft daughter paying a final £160 premium SIX DAYS AFTER her dog has been euthanised on Monday. This is on top of the fact that MORE THAN recently decided they no longer wished to cover end of life matters, one of the main reasons my daughter bought this policy in the first place. Clearly, decency, integrity and compassion are terms not synonymous with MORE THAN. Reviewed on: 27th April 2019

Scammers

If I could give this no stars I would. If you put in a claim you can guarantee by your renewal it will have doubled. 2 years ago I was paying £35, then i put in one claim if about £250 which i pay £80 of as excess and by the following year her renewal was £62. Then with in that year my dog had her teeth done and her blood results came back with some raised levels, then main area for treatment/ investigation was her liver. Since then she has been a tablet a day and her levels are good and normal, these tablets more than do not pay for as they class them as a supplement so I have been paying for these myself. Blood tests around £150 which had been claimed back, she is now only needing 2 blood tests a year costing me £300 plus I pay for the tablets myself . So upon her recent renewal I got a letter through stating it would now be £132 a month !!! I said no pointed out i was already paying her tablets and the blood tests would cost me £300 a year so what the hell would I pay them £132 a month for. Do not go with more than soon u claim and your dog gets last 7 it's just doubled every year. I hope this pet insurance company falls flat on their face and people avoid avoid avoid. Pure greed is all they have to offer. I will now either save a month myself and or check out another insurance its cheaper for me to pay her ongoing condition myself and get a new insurer for anything new. Old dogs look out

Been with more than since 2003 for my 3 dogs, and my previous dog, I was very happy with service and I must have claimed about 5000 in 16 years which they have had back in premiums , but now the dogs are 10, 9 and 7 the price was £100 per month last year now gone up to £166 per month, I only work part time and can’t afford this, I telephoned more than twice for help because I did not want to leave, but they did not care, Also I am claim free for over a year, I am saddened to leave and told them they are throwing the old dogs under the bus, Beware you think you are in good hands but you are so not, I am still upset over this, I am now with bought by many for £134 a month lifetime cover. Drugs needed not covered because non prescription

My dog has been diagnosed with a liver condition. He needs to take medication to live. This medication is non prescription so Morethan won't pay. Out of my claim for £800 they managed to wriggle out of over half and only paid £300 !!! What a con. Reviewed on: 16th February 2019

300% increase at renewal!

Apparently the 300% increase at renewal was because of the rise in vet bills. Im a vet receptionist and thr rise has been between 5 - 10 %. I cant wait for the day I see this company get taken down like the banks and PPi for extortionate prices Reviewed on: 5th February 2019

Disgusted and a total RIP OFF

I had 2 Golden Retrievers insured from puppies by More Than who are ok until you have a claim. My female Goldie tore her cruciate ligament requiring surgical repair. Claim went through fine, recovery requiring hydrotherapy. All went well until I had the next year premium, which increased by 200% and a stipulation that if she tore her other cruciate ligament, she would not be covered. I was horrified as I had the highest cover. I contacted them and complained. They argreed to lower the premium and still cover the other cruciate if need be. Following year, massive premium increase again and cruciate ligament removed from cover. This put her premium to over £1000 a year. Again I was disgusted and discontinued her cover. My Male Goldie had an unexpected attack of Gastroenerotis requiring 2 overnight stays in vet hospital on a drip. Claim went through fine until the following year premium. You guessed it, went up massively to over £1000, more than the amount I had claimed for. I phoned and spoke to a very cocky young man. His explanation was that my male dog was now placed on high risk category. I asked why. He said because of my claim, which I explained was less than the annual increase. He basically said tough. I asked why he was high risk and he said it was because of the illness of the claim. I explained that any dog regardless of breed can get gastroenteritis of unknown origin. Im a senior nurse and know what I’m on about. He clearly had no idea. I got no where, so I cancelled the premium. Between the 2 dogs I have saved over £4500. So if either of them become ill I have the money I need without paying this rip off company. I would NEVER advise anyone to use this company. They are an absolute disgrace. Have no empathy or understanding. Their telephonists have no idea what they are on about and basically don’t care. So AVOID at all cost. There are much better pet insurers out there. Wish I could give less than 1 star

MoreThan are quite literally the worst insurers I have ever had the misfortune to deal with. I've made two claims with them and both have been a nightmare. They don't pay up front like most reputable insurers, they will try and underhanded tactic to avoid paying (I actually had the claim "advisor" pretend to get the dates I'd told him wrong to attempt to invalidate my claim- I was 2 weeks into a 12 MONTH claim period so it was pretty jarringly obvious). A claim I made for emergency vet bill costing nearly £2000 took months to settle and I was out of pocket the whole time. Scummy, thieving, evil company. They've also got no online functionality so everything has to be done via post or phone call, the most advanced thing you can do is email a PDF of your claim form. Not that they'll do anything with it. Your premiums will also be subject to vast hikes for even the most minor claim, and gods help you if you have to actually claim for anything major Reviewed on: 22nd January 2019
