Ethical banking for the people

I like this building society's ethics. Customers service is always very friendly and helpful. I really appreciated the 5% cashback on spending in February, March and April. The heavy use of card ready is a bit annoying but they've been taking steps to reduce the amount of time the card reader is needed Reviewed on: 10th April 2023

A Switch that wasnt a Switch

I decided to take up the £200 switch offer from Nationwide however it didn’t run smoothly at all and ended up costing me money and total confusion with SO and DD payments. It’s taken me a few months to get my account affairs in order and I never received the £200 bonus. I am angry and frustrated Reviewed on: 13th March 2023

Good bank but app could do with improvement

I switched to Nationwide because of a switching incentive. I have had few issues with using them, just a couple of minor frustrations such as not being able to cash cheques on the mobile banking app. Reviewed on: 11th March 2023

Has a lot of different types of savings accounts, to suit different types of savers. I have money in 3 different types, & i know that not only is my money in safe hands but that the interest rates offered are good. Reviewed on: 10th March 2023

There is just one catch

I’ve never really had any problems with nationwide - there’s just one feature of their banking that feels very antiquated. Any time you need to send money to a new person you have to have the little portable pin device to verify the transfer. Out for dinner and need to send your share of the bill? Well unless you have your pin device on you, you’re not going to be able to do this there and then. It’s an annoyance and can be inconvenient Reviewed on: 9th March 2023
