Review of the Nationwide, Regular Savings:

Good savings rates, good app

5
Nationwide always seem to offer really good savings rates for loyal customers, particularly the regular savings accounts. One small thing I really like about their app is that you can see the interest rate easily for each account, this is such a simple thing but not always easy to find in other bank's apps. It helps me stay across my finances and know when I need to move my money around. I also have a tracker mortgage with them and similarly can review the rate at any time in the app easily. The only thing about Nationwide is it requires more authentication when paying a new payee, you need the card reader which is a hassle. Barclays and Chase are much easier for transferring small amounts to friends etc. Reviewed on: 15th February 2024

Reliable and secure but not great rates.

4
As Nationwide is a mutual rather than a publicly owned bank they do not have shareholders. This means that they have been less reckless with member's funds than some of their peers and the big banks. This means my money is still there and they have not had to have a bailout. It also has led them to provide equally dull service in branch as they know their members want security. But as my money has been secure, I am happy to leave it there, even though the branch service is not all singing and dancing and the interest rates on my savings are not great. Safe can be good. Easy to use online banking

I use Nationwide my save account to save money earned from redeeming coupons, doing surveys etc. Easy to use online although the interest rate is poor Reviewed on: 10th August 2015

Most useful savings product

I've used the regular saver product every year for the last 4 years. It's great to be encouraged to save a bit each month. Any funds that I have saved up for a year go into my ISA when the new tax year begins. Reviewed on: 8th July 2015
