Useless NS&I

I made the massive mistake of saving money for my daughter in their junior isa. I transferred money in and it went missing for 3 months!! When my daughter turned 18 she tried to take the money out and after telling her the money would arrive next day, told her when she rang three days later (after holding for over an hour) that they hadn't paid her because they couldn't verify her account and she was "very young". They have closed down her account and will now send a cheque in the post. I cannot emphasize how poor this organsation is, the worst I have ever come across. Don't get me started about the Ombudsman..... Reviewed on: 25th January 2023

Problems with access to child is a transferred to direct isa.

Even though the child isa has good rates I wouldn’t rely on gaining quick access to the funds once child turns 18 and they are transferred to direct isa. Been a shambles, everything has to done by post which can take six weeks to be processed. The form you fill out does not include asking national insurance number , which they need and don’t tell you about. We were told this after waiting 2 months for the password my child needs to gain online access to his account. Only told when we phoned, and asked to write again with NI number. Appalling.

NS&I Twice transferred money out of my account by mistake. Impossible to contact except with a prolonged telephone wait 40+ minutes. Unable to speak to anyone authorised to do anything. "Will call you back.." but they don't, ever, so repeated attempts to call them back - of course the lines are busy if nothing is sorted out, and we have to ring back repeatedly. Impossible to speak to the same person twice. Complaints process meaningless - no meaningful result. Reviewed on: 23rd June 2020

DREADFUL USELESS BEREAVEMNET DEPARTMENT. TOTALLY IGNORED DESPITE REPEATED REQUESTS

Trying to take control of the account of my aunt who has died from Covid. there are bills to pay but getting absolutely ZERO help or sympathy from this awful organisation. Being trying for over a month to het this resolved but absolutely nothing despite doing everything the website etc says to do. Disgusted Reviewed on: 12th May 2020

Worst set up for users

God forbid to make a mistake and get locked out! Prior Christmas I needed to withdraw some of my money for a big purchase. After failing security questions(which I'm pretty sure I have answered correctly) I was locked out and needed a temporary password to reset my account. That's when I've learned that my password would be sent to me via post, which takes 5 working days, but before that they will send me some kind of form, also via post, which I need to fill and send it back to them, which will take min 2 weeks!!!! So to get my money I can expect no earlier than a month, if everything goes smoothly. Otherwise the process will repeat. Can not describe how "happy" it makes me, as I am loosing a chance to purchase what I wanted for my family for Christmas. Those people don't have any clue that email can be used for the same purposes to make it easy for their customers! But who wants an easy way??? Needless to say if I can get hold of my money again, I am closing my account and will try to forget it like a worst nightmare! Reviewed on: 13th December 2017
