My 81 year old Mother tried to buy some premium bonds for her great-grandson for Christmas. Muddled through trying to order them online, sent a cheque and then heard absolutely nothing from NS&I. Many hours on the phone later, after speaking to someone in a call centre in India, my Mother was told that she hadn't sent a birth certificate or passport details, so they couldn't progress the purchase. They had managed to cash the cheque though and when my Mother told them to cancel the purchase, she was told that they were not able to refund her and that she would have to claim the money back through her bank. Appalling customer service and service in general. How can NS&I take your money before they have completed the actions to check the details of a purchase. Don't bother buying premium bonds, just throw your money in the bin! Read more Read less
