Try everything to not pay out

1
I moved both of my dogs to Petwise Insurance and after two years my elderly (15 years of age) Labradoodle was struggling so much; incontinent, blind, not eating, difficulty standing and falling over that we decided it was kinder to let him go. We arranged a home euthanasia with a vet and a cremation. We notified Petwise this had happened and claimed on their Farewell Policy which pays out a maximum of £150, far less that we had already paid. Because the vet had written Arthritis as one of our dogs symptoms they have refused to pay out. They could have chosen incontinence, immobility or just old age. What makes it worse is that we never claimed for his arthritis it was just on his records as having it. The pain killers for arthritis we bought for our dog, were never purchased using any insurance policy. I contested their findings and they said 'I should read the small print in their policy booklet", which they changed in our second year with them and we weren't notified of the change. Needless to say I will be taking my other dog away from this appalling company. Truly disgusting treatment, absolutely awful company, please avoid. Reviewed on: 9th May 2023

I moved my policy to Petwise last October 22 and sadly in December my beloved dog was diagnosed with a serious liver issue and passed away in March 23 Petwise staff been excellent throughout this time. An email when a vets claim has been received and confirmation when paid. Considering I was a new customer they have paid every claim promptly (a considerable amount in a short time) with excellent communication at all times I really cannot thank them enough at what has been a very difficult time and would thoroughly recommend them based on my experience Reviewed on: 28th April 2023

Deducting two excess payments for single condition

1
Our dog developed crucial ligament problems and three claims were made for ongoing treatment by the same vets who have several branches. Pet wise claim that their ts and cs allow this as our dog’s was treated by two separate practises. Despite proving that it is a single company with four branches Petwise refuse to acknowledge this. We are now being threatened with recovery action and risk not only going on a blacklist but worse, if we accept what Petwise are stating then any future conditions our dog may develop may lead to a repeat of their deducting excesses for us taking the dog to a branch where they have more diagnostic equipment than the vet’s branch nearest to us. It doesn’t augur well for us. However we will take our case all the way to the ombudsman if they continue to refuse the payout Reviewed on: 17th March 2023

Death of my dog

1
My dog was put to sleep in December 2022, as of Feb 2023 they have just come back to me and said they will not pay the £150 claim for death. This is because my dog had been to the vets previously with arthritis...err well arthritis is a degenerative illness! It became so bad it was kinder to say goodbye . Reviewed on: 21st February 2023
