I deeply regret choosing Waggel pet insurance provider.

1
I deeply regret choosing this pet insurance provider. What's marketed as comprehensive cover is riddled with unreasonably low policy limits that bear no relation to real veterinary costs, and the small print is deliberately designed to create grounds for refusing claims rather than paying them. When my pet needed treatment, I discovered just how many traps were buried in the policy wording — exclusions, sub-limits, and technicalities that exist for one purpose: to avoid paying out. The limits are so low they're essentially meaningless in any serious situation. I'd strongly urge anyone considering this provider to read every line of the policy document before buying, compare the actual limits against typical vet bills in your area, and ask yourself whether this cover would genuinely protect you when it matters. For us, it didn't. Avoid. Reviewed on: 21st May 2026

If Zero stars was an option, they should have zero!

If Zero stars was an option, they should have zero!!! Their policy wording includes vet's observation notes in your pets history as pre-existing conditions to wriggle out of paying for anything. They are a standard fraudulent insurance company that takes your money each month and uses policy wording to prevent any payout towards your pets medical needs. I have just cancelled them. My recent experience has been: my dog has had a skin tag on his eyelid for most of his life which a vet observed in 2023 in his medical notes. We took out Waggle insurance in 2024. Recently the skin tag has grown and could cause damage to his cornea, so we are having it removed. I have seen the notes from 2023, which are observations, not a condition, however, Waggle's policy wording includes anything that could be considered a symptom of something, therefore, every vets observational notes can be considered a potential symptom, therefore you will not be covered for anything previously observed in your pets medical history. Prior to this, our dog ended up with wobbly tooth that needed removing. He had chomped down on something hard and weakened the tooth. Waggle decided that a vet's observation of plaque on his teeth in 2022 was enough evidence of a pre-existing condition to void any payout despite us implementing strict teeth cleaning subsequently. DO NOT USE THIS INSURER, YOUR PET WILL NOT BE COVERED!!! The policy is not worth the paper it is written on. Reviewed on: 20th May 2026

Great easy brand and company to work with - simple web and forms and good communications. Just had my first renewal and only a 5% increase in premiums which is acceptable given the already low prices and as animal ages with risk. Emails are good with direct access to documents - and rewards are appropriate and good value. Would like there to be an App available to me for easier account management but that is the only thing I would say to improve the service. Reviewed on: 9th March 2026

Worst pet insurance ever!

1
Waggle refused to pay our claim for an emergency vet treatment when our dog had breathing problems. Referred it to a pre existing condition when our dog had a cough! Not related at all but they tried to link it to avoid payment. It took them 7 weeks to tell us that too! Never had this problem with my previous pet insurer. All those monthly payments for nothing! Reply from Waggel Hi, We’re really sorry to hear how upsetting this has been, especially when your dog needed emergency care. We know how stressful breathing problems can be and understand how disappointing it is when a claim is declined after a wait. There was a delay because we needed to obtain and review your dog’s full veterinary history before we could assess the claim. Once reviewed, the decision was based on the policy terms around pre-existing conditions. This isn’t about trying to avoid payment, but about applying the policy wording consistently based on the medical history provided. We completely understand that this can feel unfair, especially when you believe the conditions aren’t connected, and we’re sorry for the frustration caused by the wait and the outcome. We hope your dog is doing better now, and thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. The Waggel Team Response date: 19th February 2026

Scam insurance, great until you make a claim.

1
Initially I was really happy with how good their website was to use, how good the price was and everything seemed great that was until making a claim then I found they were cheap for a reason.. it's Fake insurance and doesn't pay out. Do yourself a favour and find another insurer or don't bother because you will end up paying in full anyway. Never had any problems with other insurers before but as they were getting expensive monthly I thought I found a bargain with waggel. I put in a claim for tooth extractions. There were no prior problems from before this policy and it was 12 months in when my dog needed tooth extraction my initial vet wanted to refer me to another vets for a tooth clean for £1000 I wasn't happy with this and found another vets, the end price actually came in approx £300 less and my dog also needed extractions too. Referred me to wording in the policy that a dental check needed every 12 months recording no prior issues. How do you know what a vet puts into their records or does not. And if they miss typing something it's a get out clause. Absolute joke. Oh well I guess it's a monthly bill I can cancel now, beings it's worthless there's no point keeping it. Reply from Waggel Hi, We’re really sorry to read this and to hear how disappointed you’ve been, that’s not the experience we want for any of our members. The decision wasn’t because we look for reasons not to pay, but because the dental section of the policy requires annual dental checks to be recorded in the vet history confirming there were no pre-existing dental issues. We have to base our assessment on the veterinary records provided. That said, if you believe something has been recorded incorrectly by the vet, we absolutely do go back and clarify this with the practice. If a mistake in the notes is highlighted and the vet confirms an update or correction, we reassess the claim using the corrected information. We know this can feel frustrating, and we’re sorry for the disappointment this caused. We hope your dog is recovering well after their treatment, and thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. The Waggel Team Response date: 20th February 2026

Waggel will add "triage" to your policy without asking, then refuse to remove it when you notice. ONly way to remove it is to cancel and restart the policy which will then make all health issues that arose during the first policy preexisting and they refuse to pay out. scam artists. they don't tell you any of this and refuse to help at all Reviewed on: 18th June 2025
Reply from Waggel Hi there, We’re really sorry to read this. Triage isn’t added to policies without choice, it’s an option that can be selected when setting up or renewing cover, and it’s shown in the policy details and documents. When triage is included, premiums are usually lower. Because insurance works on continuous cover, changing certain policy features mid-term can sometimes require starting a new policy, which can affect how pre-existing conditions are assessed. This isn’t intended to disadvantage anyone, it’s a standard part of how insurance policies operate and how cover is applied consistently. We’re sorry this wasn’t clear or felt unhelpful when you contacted us, and your feedback about how this was explained has been shared with the team. Thanks, The Waggel Team Response date: 20th February 2026

Terrible company, would not recommend

1
We've been extremely disappointed with Waggel and definitely would not recommend. We have had 2 claims denied unfairly, in our opinion: - Our dog needed surgery to remove a retained puppy tooth; she was a puppy when we took out the insurance, but a puppy having puppy teeth was classed as a "pre-existing condition". - Our cat chipped a tooth and vet advice for the past 3 years had been to leave it as it was. The most recent check-up identified root pulp showing and recommended further work; this was denied. Apparently we should have had the tooth taken out within 3 months of the chip, against vet advice. Our vet even offered to follow up with Waggel as they thought it was unfair! Communication - I put in a request for information on Brucellosis testing, I never received a response. Finally, we decided to cancel the policies having paid £1100 for dental surgery this year on top of annual vaccinations and flea / worm treatment. Less than a week later we reconsidered and asked to re-start the policies. Waggel said this wasn't possible, we would have to obtain a new quote and start the whole process again, despite the policies being renewed this month. When I spoke to someone at Waggel about it, they were very unhelpful, just repeating the company line. In summary, I would not recommend Waggel. If you do decide to go with them, make sure you go over the policy with a fine tooth comb, as they seem to have wording to enable them to wiggle out of every claim. They are cheap for a reason! Reply from Waggel Hi, We’re really sorry to read this and to hear how disappointed you’ve been with your experience, that’s not what we want for any of our members. We understand how upsetting it is when claims are declined. Decisions are based on the policy wording and the veterinary records we receive. For dental claims in particular, the policy requires that there are no pre-existing dental conditions or indicators, and that any recommended dental treatment is carried out within the specified timeframe. We know this can feel unfair when you’ve followed your vet’s advice, but we have to apply the policy terms consistently based on what’s documented in the medical history. If a vet believes something has been recorded incorrectly, we do always go back to them to clarify and reassess with any updated information. Regarding restarting a cancelled policy, once a policy is cancelled it can’t be reinstated, and a new quote would be required. This is because insurance relies on continuous cover, and starting a new policy means any conditions that arose during the previous policy period are treated as pre-existing under standard insurance rules. We’re also sorry to hear you didn’t receive a response to your question about Brucellosis testing, that’s not the level of communication we aim to provide, and your feedback has been shared internally. We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience, and we’re sorry that we’ve left you feeling disappointed. The Waggel Team Response date: 20th February 2026

Easy experience, and good deal.

Easy experience, and good deal. A little too over the top with communications during the quoting process and marketing since but provide some really good offers alongside the insurance and everything appears simple. Yet to have any major interaction (claim/call) but everything so far has been easy to understand. Reviewed on: 25th March 2025
