Frustrating Experience with Redemption at Platform

I had a highly disappointing experience with Platform during the redemption of my mortgage. After making a complete payment via CHAPS on January 30, 2024, to close out my mortgage, the lack of communication from Platform was astounding. Despite my proactive steps, including promptly mailing the necessary redemption documents, there was no acknowledgment of the payment, and shockingly, they continued to collect the monthly interest via direct debit. What followed was a series of frustrating attempts to resolve the issue. I reached out to customer service multiple times, only to be met with long wait times and disconnections, amounting to nearly three hours of wasted effort without any resolution. My complaint, formally lodged on February 15, 2024, has been dragging without progress, leading to further direct debits which I had to indemnify through the Direct Debit Guarantee due to their inaction. It's been over eight weeks since my initial complaint, and despite the time elapsed, Platform has neither rectified the error nor offered any form of compensation for the inconvenience and financial strain caused. Their handling of this matter reflects poorly on their customer service and account management systems. To anyone considering Platform for their mortgage needs, I would advise caution. The lack of effective communication and resolution capabilities significantly marred what should have been a straightforward process. I am now compelled to escalate this to the Financial Ombudsman Service to seek a resolution, a step I hoped would be unnecessary Reviewed on: 17th April 2024

Steer clear

Awful service after being with them for over 5 years. Forced to leave and pay £10k in early repayment charges due to their slow processes which disadvantage current lenders compared to new customers. Complained and they weren’t bothered at all. Go with another lender! Reviewed on: 7th June 2023

Appalling company

I decided to go with Platform M as the rate was really competitive. But once I decided to check my mortgage details online I realised there's no way of contacting them? Customer service extremely poor, avoid if possible

We have a mortgage with Platform, and although the rate was competitive, it's worth noting that there is no online access to your account (and therefore no easy way to manage the account). They advertise a phone number, but despite trying to get through and waiting upwards of 45 minutes many times, we have never been able to get through to our bank. If you can, I would get a mortgage elsewhere. Reviewed on: 13th April 2023

Stay away from this company

Had the misfortune of thinking of remortgaging with Platform. They never even looked at my application in 8 weeks and kept delaying. It was frustrating that I had to go to a different lendor following lack of any communication from Platform and paying a variable rate from my current lendor as my fixed rate expired due to delays from Platform. Nothing but stress! very bad communication , bad customer service

we are trying to exchange and our conveyancer just need confirmation but they refuse to look at out case until the day before planned completion! we cant exchange until we do... when we have tried to talk to a manger, this has been refused.. so many different answers every time we call, poor communication! it had been traumatic since start, loosing emails, never getting the same answer, saying they will deal with something, tomorrow and then the next and so on.. this company has caused us so much stress! we've tried to complain but even that they wont deal with for 40 days! dont use! Shocking Customer service

Like many others, wish I had read the recent reviews of this sad excuse of a company. Been waiting since November for our application to be processed. No communication for 6 weeks. Then a couple of queries answered and sorted reasonably promptly. Then...almost 3 months after point of application, an issue arose regarding length of leasehold when valuation was carried out. It took SO long for the application to be dealt with, the leasehold threshold fell below their requirements. Despite being fine at "The point of application". Told we can appeal....upto 7 days waiting ( despite Platform having no concept of time) ....they have caused the problem with their inadequate ability to do their job. It will be quicker and intact a better deal, to start the process again with another lender Please, do yourself a favour.... DON'T USE THIS COMPANY..... Reviewed on: 1st February 2023

Avoid at all cost

Can only echo what others have been saying! platform are utter shambles. Delay after delay after delay and no timescales whatsoever. In hindsight we would have never gone with them, it’s such a stressful experience and they are making this so much worse than with their utter lack of competence and due diligence. We are still waiting for the offer and whilst we have submitted and promptly responded to all what they have asked for , they seem to come up with another update or another document that would put us back in the processing queue. I’m incredibly frustrated, upset, and most importantly helpless as we are at their mercy and we are now very worried that the vendors will pull out which would be solely down to Platform. stay away!
