AVOID! Useless and extortionate.

1
Useless in the event of a claim - will palm you off to underwriters who are equally as useless and nothing will materialise from your claim. Despite having up to 3 years NCB and going into my 4th year insuring with PO, they thought it would be acceptable to increase my monthly premium from £128 to £266! Absolute p*ss-take and a smack in the face to a loyal paying customer of multiple years. Avoid! Reviewed on: 22nd September 2024

Learn by my mistake and AVOID

Currently have a claim going through, being passed between Enterprise, Ageas and someone called Carpenter. Fully comprehensive but I seem to be chasing everything myself. Reviewed on: 21st August 2024

Absolutely useless and terrible service.

1
Absolutely useless. No help whatsoever. They will come up with every excuse under not to provide the service you pay for and will try to put you on to others, such as the RAC or their underwriters. Waiting times on the phone could be 15/20 minutes. Their customer service advisors have zero sympathy and are simply not willing to help in any way. Terrible service and I will certainly not renew with them. Reviewed on: 19th August 2024

No customer service.

I deeply regret taking out car insurance with the Post Office a few years ago. I had an accident on the 17th April and although repairs were approved, to date I am still waiting for the approved repairer to repair my vehicle. Apparently there is a shortage of parts but all that is needed is denting and painting. After having made the claim with the Post Office, one does not get the opportunity to speak to someone there regarding any issues but one is advised by the answering machine to contact another party. My vehicle is still driveable but the repairs are necessary to make it look good once again. I have taken a decision to change from the Post Office when time comes for renewal and I strongly recommend that anyone seeking car insurance stays far from them if you wish to have service when you need it. Rip off for provisional drivers

1
Took out car insurance for the family car which included my 17yr old daughter on a provisional licence. At the time I was told to let them know when she passed her test. Just called them to let them know only to be told that they wouldn't provide new insurance cover as she had just passed her test. Would never have went with them in the first place if I'd known this. Total rip-off merchants. No wonder the poor post-masters got shafted if this the way they behave all the time. Reviewed on: 19th March 2024

Dirty disgusting rip off stay away

Post office car insurance is underwritten by an Indian company who is actually based in Bermuda with a uk office! they are nothing more than scammers! They claim they are cancelling your insurance because the letter they “did not” send asking for all my log book etc etc! This is a disgusting company and have reported them to all the agencies that monitor insurance companies don’t touch these Indian scammers Reviewed on: 15th November 2023

Absolutely shocking

Don't use. What a mess. I have been passed from company to company to deal with a claim that is not even my fault. Its been 3 months and I am still no further than day one. Absolutely shocking insurance provider. Spend your money somewhere else. I would give no stars if I could. Reviewed on: 9th November 2023

Took extra money from my account

1
I scrapped my car due to a fault, so called to cancel. I was told that I would have to pay a cancellation charge if I didn't insure my new car with them. I asked what price it would be to insure my new car and it was almost triple. It is only 3 years newer and a lot smaller engine! So obviously I said I wouldn't be doing that. The lady told me that I would have to pay a cancellation charge and admin charge which came to over £40 which I agreed to.| The next day they claimed my monthly payment from my bank account via direct debit. I waited 2 weeks for them to return it which is what most companies would do, but it hasn't happened so I called them today to be told that it was part of the cancellation fee and that I would have been given a breakdown of the charges. I told the operator that I wasn't. She said I would have been. I explained that I definitely wasn't because I always write down figures. I am now going to write a written complaint as I believe I was misinformed and I feel that the extra money should have been returned. Good job they record the phone calls!
