Couldn't find my dad's car

1
My father was involved in an accident. The day after the accident we gave SAGA all the information they needed and Saga arranged for the car to be collected the next day, which it was. Monday came and my dad's curiosity car turned up, but the garage that was going to repaired said they hadn't got the car - alarm bells were ringing by this point. A tow truck had come to collect the car on Friday the day after the accident and I'd handed them the key because it was expected. Forty minutes passed and despite being told by SAGA they hadn't arranged or authorised the garage for the vehicle to be collected they confirmed it had been collected and was with a completely different garage. My dad was stressing and I was stressing as well. Completely useless, I won't be using them when I get to that age and my dad will be using something else after this episode. Can't issue a letter of Indemnity in 24 hours or even 4 days - shocking....

1
On the 5.10.2019 I was stopped for no Insurance and issued with a ticket to produce within 7 days. Reference my Schedule at the time advised XYZ (reg Number) - however you have issued the certificate in 123, vehicle therefore shows as uninsured and not on MIB or polica data base. I Request an updated certificate (You can't back date them)(unbelievable) which shows cover from 6.10 - This is no use as I have to prove cover was in place and on that plate on the 5th or prior too. I'm then informed a letter of indemnity can be provided but, 'can take 6 to 10 days'. In the age of on line policies which are provided in seconds 'surely' the required letter (which must be a template) can also be provided equally expediently - given it's your error in the first place? "We'll ask for it to be sent recorded" - but when??? I can't use my car and have a clock ticking before a summons is potentially issued against me. I've now called three times spent over an hour explaining this time and time again and am no further forward - 'managers' won't or don't take escalation calls' or ownership at any level to resolve this. Given your technically in breach of contract by providing the wrong documents and you seem both totally unable to grasp the policyholder predicament I am in (no car for 5 days) or do anything to resolve the matter swiftly. I have taken my option to raise this with the FOS and would welcome your timely response and solution before tomorrow 3pm Thursday 10.10.2019. All I want is a simple letter(or email copy preferably) that shows YOU insured the car under the above registration prior to the 5.10.2019, how hard can it be??!! Totally at a loss for words and thoroughly disappointed with the service which I shall share in social media channels and a wider audience unless I get a response to resolve this Reviewed on: 9th October 2019

Can beat other quotes by a mile!

5
We were getting really high car insurance renewal quotes, and tried Saga who beat them all hands down. We didn’t sign up straight away after the quote as we went on holiday, and when we got back the quotes were all even higher, even the Saga one. But when we phoned them they honoured their initial quote even though it had expired. It was great customer service. Reviewed on: 1st September 2019

Almost double the cost of the next nearest quote.

2
They say loyalty doesn’t pay, well that’s certainly my experience with Saga. I have been with them for 4 years and seen a steady increase in premiums on each annual renewal, but this year it was ridiculous. I have had no claims and this year the cost has jumped from £845 to a whopping £1284. I asked them to check if there had been an error with the underwriter who confirmed this was the new premium. I got competitive quotes from Direct Line, Privilage, John Lewis and NFU, and amazingly the highest quote was £721. I went with NFU as their excess was the lowest and because they’ve won the top spot in Auto express for 3 years at a cost of £654 including breakdown cover. I have a number of financial products with Saga, all of which I’m withdrawing due to this experience. Reviewed on: 18th August 2019

rip off Saga renewals

1
They get you on the books first year then increase premium on renewals. A joke, up by £90 on a £250 policy. When you call they waste 2 minutes holding you on telling you how they have all these great offers and the CEO wanting to know how well they have done. You then get someone who can't tell you why its gone up so much and speculates. Go to another issuer and its less than the £250 from the previous year, I guess they are hoping you are old enough and don't understand your options to stick with them and be ripped off. Utterly hopeless

1
I'm in the process of changing my car, it's actually the same car, just a newer version. Saga say they can't cover me for the new vehicle and they can't tell me why they can't cover me, so I'll have to cancel it (I only paid for a years cover a week ago) and arrange cover elsewhere, for which they're going to charge me £50. Utterly hopeless. Reviewed on: 2nd May 2019

Very high admin charges

1
I took out a car insurance policy in February. A couple of months later we decided that we needed a better car and so decided to trade our 2 old cars in and just have one newer model car. After ringing Saga up to cancel my new policy they charged me 75 pounds admin costs for the pleasure! 25 pounds for setting up the policy which I didn't know, and 50 pounds for cancellation. Thanks Saga insurance. Please read the small print on policy before the cooling off period. Reviewed on: 27th April 2019

Appalling in every way

Had an accident and at fault driver also with saga. No courtesy car allowed. Took 7 weeks to settle. More interested in my policy than dealing wit at fault policy. Communication and helpfulness atrocious. Reviewed on: 4th February 2019
