On our way to Spain via Ireland, we broke down as we were about to board the ferry at Cairnryan. We waited 11 hours for recovery of our motorhome but we were left at the ferry port because the recovery driver couldn't take us with him. No contact from the RAC and I was not able to get through to them. Abandoned 200 miles from home on a wet, cold and dark evening with all of our possessions in our motorhome, we found the nearest hotel, 23 miles away. The next day we discovered that our vehicle would not be unloaded at the repairers until late afternoon, another 120 miles from where we were. Only then could we get access to our belongings. Eventually, the next day, I got through to the RAC who arranged for me to pick up a hire car from several miles away. We drove to the repairers and collected what we could from the motorhome and drove another 70 miles home, arriving there exhausted, 36 hours after breaking down. I was extremely disappointed with the lack of communication from the RAC, leaving a couple aged 75 and 72 on the quayside at Cairnryan ferry port to find their own way to a hotel and then a further 120 miles to reclaim their possessions, and a further 70 miles home. Although we have received an apology and an offer of £50 as a goodwill gesture, I feel that this in no way compensates for the fact that we were left for 10 hours, trying to keep warm in freezing temperatures. Then having to make our way to a hotel checking in without bags. The RAC have offered to pay for the hotel. Read more Read less

Saga health insurance was excellent except on renewal my subscription had increased considerably. During the membership year I discovered another company offering me the same cover for half the price! On cancelling my policy I was unexpectedly charged £93.70 despite not making a claim in that membership year.. This left a bad feeling and I’m disappointed as I had no prior knowledge of a cancellation fee. Prior to this experience Saga were faultless. Read more Read less

They declined to renew our house insurance on the day it expired having previously bombarded us with emails with questions about the property, many of which were repeated and some of which were imposible to answer. Even the Saga agents I spoke to were embarrassed. Read more Read less

My husband died whilst on holiday in Menorca on 8 October 2023. Customers should be made away that no cause of death is permitted on death certificates in Spain. Trying to prove that my husbands death was accidental as opposed to an underlying cause such as a heart attack is still ongoing. It’s cost me a fortune having to travel back to Menorca just to prove he drowned (personal accident) as opposed to something else and still no decision/nor payout. Read more Read less

I wouldn't know where to start.I started this claim in 2022 following a water leak. Communication is dire. I'm still awaiting a return call from Saga from 26/09/24. I now have extensive damp in my kitchen from a badly fitted sink unit fitted by an " odd job person" Saga employed to do this.I am now with a new insurer but contacted Saga has it was due to poor workmanship this problem has occurred. I currently have pneumonia so living in a damp environment is unhealthy.I tried to contact them today but told " not picking up the phone" I DESPAIR. I also asked for a no or email to make a complaint I was told this needs to be done via person not answering the phone! All bright ideas or help would be much appreciated. Read more Read less

Initially I was pleased. I made no claims at all this year. 4 years ago with another insurer I had had to make a claim when my oil tank split. This was resolved with no problems and was on my record when I joined Saga this year. This year my renewal quote was £3750!! Why? Read more Read less
