Watch Out at Renewal Time!!!

Been with Sainsburys for a year, and I was quite happy with the policy and the price, I received notice that my policy would 'Auto Renew' but decided to check the details. I was very disappointed to see my premium increase from £660 to £805 (Nothing has changed at all, I haven't had any claims, and have a long no claims history). I challenged the company on why this was, not given a sensible answer so looked elsewhere, glad I did!! insured on the same terms elsewhere for £540, some £265 cheaper. My lasting impression is that whilst the initial year premium may look good, they will rip you off at renewal time. Best avoided Reviewed on: 21st May 2019

Updating policy

Tried to inform Sainsburys car insurance that I, as a named driver, had picked up a 3 point penalty for speeding - awful experience. The representative was hugely unhelpful, stalled at every possible opportunity and charged us for doing the right thing. He "waived" the admin fee, but then charged us for changing the details on the policy - is that not admin? He then asked for the cars mileage - surely this is completely irrelevant to the purpose of the call. The Sainsbury's representative was disgraceful - will never use them again. Loyalty means nothing to these people . Had a issue and they sent a letter which I did not get so they canceled my policy . Been a customer for 6 years and will not use anything to do with the Sainsbury's brand . Avoid at all costs Reviewed on: 26th April 2019

Not very good

Tried to swap insurance when I bought a new car (similar to my old) they just said no cover??? Can’t explain why but if you fit a tracker it might help? What a load of ****. Good job I left myself time to get a policy from one of the better companies! Reviewed on: 6th April 2019

Not appreciate they customers.

Been with them for 1 year. Next year renewal price was twice bigger than original. While checking on their website for pet insurance the price was cheaper than what they was asking for renewal. When i contact customer service regarding this just been told its discount for new customer and they will not apply this discount for me. Completely dont appreciate they customer for staying with them. Havent done any claims with them so nothing to say about it, but they customer services let me down, not going to come back to them anymore. Reviewed on: 19th January 2019

Avoid!

Impossible to contact. They don't answer the phone or respond to emails and documents disappear from the web portal never to return. They may be cheap but I now understand why, they have committed no resource to the product. Am switching insurer!! Reviewed on: 17th January 2019

AVOID - NOT GOOD

WARNING - do not use Sainsburys bank for your car insurance if there is any chance you may want to cancel part way through the year. I cancelled with 3 months left to go anticipating saving some money after Christmas - this was not the case. I ended up paying the remaining amount in one lump sum less £25. If I had realised this I wouldn't have bothered cancelling and would have left the car insured. After speaking to them for clarification when the paperwork came through they confirmed this was the case and I could not reinstate the policy. What a farce! I now know why my 6 other cars are all insured with Direct Line or Lancaster. You may pay a bit more overall but the service is second to none and never had any problems with making amendments to policies. DO NOT USE Reviewed on: 4th January 2019

Not a good experience.

Took out a policy on line . We did not disclose a speeding conviction which was over 3 years ago as did not realise they stipulated 5 years. Rang next day to explain mistake .. flatly refused to insure us . We had paid for annual policy so asked about refund. 3 phone calls after still waiting a £300 refund . A genuine mistake now received a letter stating we have cancelled your policy . Reviewed on: 27th September 2018

Fairly priced insurance. I have had to make two claims over the past few years (one my fault and the other not my fault!) and didn’t experience any problems. Nice friendly people on the phone and they acted quickly to sort everything. Reviewed on: 23rd September 2018
