Go elsewhere - not a credit to the Sainsbury brand. Whilst their pricing is competitive, they seem to have almost no one available to answer simple queries. I had an issue confirming NCB's with them and... Read more Reviewed on: 3rd December 2024

Cancel policy due to selling car

1
What a terrible experience. They tell you to use the portal to cancel so you don’t have any charges to then be told on there you can’t do it you have to ring. To then kept having the phone call cancelled. Tried all week and the woman said sorry we have been experiencing issues with the phone call system. Then she told me I had to pay £60 to cancel regardless of the fact that I have already paid this months payment in advance. Won’t be using anything to do with Sainsbury’s from now on. They can shove their services where the sun dong shine. Appalled !!! Reviewed on: 9th July 2021

Buyer Beware ! Rating nil !!!

Having chosen Sainsburys car insurance via a reputable on line source my husband was very pleased with himself to have got a good 'deal' It was 3 weeks before his existing insurance was due to expire and he duly paid the £25 deposit required. Very sadly my husband died a week later, before the insurance was even due to come into force. I rang as many people as possible asap and after a bit of a search for a tel no this included Sainsburys Bank, I spoke to a representative who although very sympathetic to the occasion didn't seem to know how to handle the situation, I would have been happy to go ahead with the Insurance as quoted to my husband but declined the new price given to me as it was very expensive in comparison to the one my husband had chosen. To cut a long story short I have contacted Sainsburys Bank by telephone on a number of occasions and despite the sympathy and apologies and being promised return of the deposit my husband paid and now 7 weeks later there is no sign and by the tone of the letters I have been receiving from quite a different source it appears that I won't be receiving any such refund. I'm so pleased we did not take up this Insurance, I can't imagine the problems that may have ensued if ever a claim needed to be made, don't touch them with a barge pole. Reviewed on: 6th July 2021

One month after car fire claimnot settled

1
On March 26th, my car caught fire after the AA told me it's safe to drive and the new battery overcharged due to a failing regulator. Sainsbury's brokers (Markerstudy) took the car away for assessment. One month later, after many phone calls to them, many excuses, and promises, I have been told the car was FINALLY assessed last week, and they will update me when they have a report. I have had a month of excuses, no contact from them to update me, no car, and no idea when or if I will get mine back. Worse they are STILL taking payments. Quick to take your money but tough luck if something goes wrong. Reviewed on: 26th April 2021

No online way to contact

Wanted to query an old ISA that I thought I had closed as received a letter saying interest rates had changed. Wouldn’t let me log in. Looked everywhere for email address, no only phone number, but I hate using the phone due to hearing loss. Tried messenger, after several tries eventually was told they don’t have email address can only phone or write to head office. What organisation doesn’t have email or at least online chat Reviewed on: 26th April 2021

Obstruction

1
I've just spent a ridiculous amount of time trying to get through to these people to cancel a renewal of my car insurance with them. The phone number on the email leads to an automated response with 4 options all of which lead to a taped voice saying "Thank you and goodbye" without my being able to cancel. There is no cancellation option among the online documents as far as I can see. Eventually after a trawl through the Sainsbury's bank website I found another number, got through, waited, got put through to someone else, waited and finally was able to cancel. I asked if they'd kept my payment details from last year and she said they had. I'm not 100% sure ( it was a year ago!), but I usually ask them not to do this and I seem to recall some woman insisting that they had to do keep them. The girl today said that I should have been given the option not to have these details stored. All in all it seems to me almost designed to make it really difficult/almost impossible to cancel a policy with them. So, unless they do me a quote in single figures next year as opposed to a nearly 25% increase in premium, I won't be using this lot again. Reviewed on: 2nd March 2021

Terrible Customer Service, in fact "what customer service?"

1
Like many other reviewers comments, massive increase in renewal quote for absolutely no reason. The only way to cancel the renewal is by calling but you can never get through to the call centre plus the call centre is only open 9 to 5 Monday to Friday ........ really? In these extremely challenging times? However like with many other web based businesses they make it very very easy to send them money! Also the auto renewal topic is one that needs addressing, I dont want to auto renew for the reasons above so where's the option to "opt out" of auto-renewal? I am moving to another provider who is at least 35% cheaper for the same, if not more, cover. I guess it will be another charge back application to my credit card company if Sainsbury wont answer the phone before auto renewal. Unfortunately you cant post a review will a star rating of zero. Fraudulent Policy

1
I received a letter from Sainsbury's Car Insurance telling me that the direct debit on my car insurance had not been paid. I do not have car insurance with them. On telephoning them I was told that this used my name and address but all other details were different as was the car. A week later I got another letter saying that the policy was being cancelled as I had not paid. I have telephoned and written to them several times but their attitude seems to be that the policy has now been cancelled for non-payment, that is the end of the matter and they do not care that I could be affected by this. No checks done on new policies then apparently! Reviewed on: 12th December 2020

Insurance went up on renewal, can't cancel it

1
I've insured my car with Sainsbury Bank and on renewal it went up with 35%, considering that I had no claim or change in circumstances. on top, their customer service is not answering the phone holding me on the line for 55min. Will definitely move somewhere else!! Reviewed on: 26th October 2020

Useless company

1
Like many others here, I was trying to cancel my policy which was due for renewal. Waited for hours and still couldn't get through their only customer service. No email or live chat as an alternative means of communication. Decided to simply cancel my direct debit. Waiting for their reply to see if they claim charges from me. Shocking! Avoid these scumbags at all cost if you don't want to go through the same ordeal. Reviewed on: 5th October 2020
