100 euro notes

Received my money and I have several 100 euro notes and 5O euro notes. When I buy one coffee the cafe are going to be well pleased when I offer these. What is the point Sainsbury’s? Why not have a section asking what value notes you want. No I won’t use again. Reviewed on: 21st January 2023

Never again, dreadful customer service

Went to Hedge End, southampton today at 13:30 (06/06) to collect pre paid Euros. The kiosk was without a queue! Amazing. Until I approached the sour faced man behind the counter who happily told me it was closed (not as advertised on the website), whilst he clearly balanced everything up so he could get away well before the end of his shift time at 2pm. i said "so I have to go and find somewhere to wait for 30 minutes until you reopen?" No response. I went to complain at Sainsburys customer service only to be told "its a different company!!" I said but its advertised as 'Sainsbury's' travel money but apparently Sainsbury's Bank isnt anything to do with Sainsburys!!!! Well I returned at 2pm, finally served at 2:05 due to the new person taking 5 minutes to get the system working again. Never again.... Tescos, you have my regular business from now on! You'd get more use out of a chocolate teapot!! Card was blocked and then I got charged an Annual Fee and a Withdrawal Fee. Overseas Call Centre were totally useless and I phoned them 5-6 times. My daughter needed the card for a trip to Japan and I thought it was okay for her to use it. Problem started when she tried to book a Train Ticket on Klook and she couldn't receive an SMS message with an OTP Code (she only had Data Sim). So we switched the Mobile No to mine and I sent her the Code. Then Mastercard decided to block the card, due to her using it. It's not like it was Mastercard's "borrowed" money - it was a pre-loaded card, that they were making a profit on the money. I'm a 35 year customer of Sainsburys and very disappointed. Great Service very helpful.

Exchanged £200 for South African Rand had a good exchange rate compared to other money exchange bureau's. Unfortunately our holiday got cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances, took the money back and Adele at the Mere Green Exhange bureau went above and beyond to exchange the money back to sterling at no loss to us. Con Artists

Bought £500 of Mauritian Rupees went on holiday but left them at home and had to buy more at the airport. Returned from holiday tried to convert them back and offered £398 , absolutely disgusting!! Reviewed on: 31st October 2024

Useless currency exchange

Ordered £200 of US dollars to take to Mexico and they sent 100 dollar bill plus some smaller dollars. Tried to change the 100 dollar bill into smaller notes and Sainsbury's refuse to do this. Unable to change it anywhere, will now have to change back to pounds as it will be too big to change in Mexico. Cost money to change to dollars then more to change it back and am now nearly £100 down on spending money for holiday. Will never use Sainsbury's again and will even do my shopping elsewhere as they are an absolute shambles. Go to post office if you want a decent service Reviewed on: 12th September 2024

A big con, they offer you shockingly bad exchange rates when you transfer in and out of the pound. The no commission is a lie. Be better signing up to the many travel cards and drawing the money out there. Reviewed on: 1st August 2024

Rip-off currency buy back

I got Icelandic Krone from Sainsburys. Cost me around £260 ... all fine. But when I took most of it back - as Iceland basically uses cashless - they effectively gave me an exchange rate that meant I got back around £200 so I lost about 25% ... about £55!! Make a profit, fine. But that's usury in my opinion. Complained but just got a load of dismissive and uninterested financial babble. Avoid, avoid, avoid. Reviewed on: 22nd December 2023
