The best thing is that wherever in world you get small value notes ( none over £20 equivalent) which means getting taxis etc much easier, whether camodain, thai, peruvian if preorder on line and collect in store. Use every time- obviously with Nectar dscount Reviewed on: 12th October 2025

I walked into the store and asked to order £1600 in Euros with my nectar card. The guy told me he could give me the money now (1740 euros) but did not advise that I would have got 60euros more (for an additional £1.80) if I’d ordered online. I phoned the complaint team to be told he had no legal obligation- to notify me that the walk rate was lower than online - fine but what about ethics - 60 euros would have paid for a meal on our family holiday! Ordered £1000 worth of euros to be delivered to me by the post office. All was fine until I opened the package. I received 6 x 100 euro notes and 5 x 50 euro notes. The rest of the order was in smaller notes. I holiday in a very small village in Kefalonia so I would have no chance of changing the large notes. No problem I thought. I’ll go to my local Sainsburys store and exchange them for smaller notes. After queuing at least 30 minutes I was told they are not allowed to exchange notes. Reviewed on: 12th September 2025

Never get this card. Mine is blocked

Whilst away on holiday they blocked my card. I called to unfreeze it and they told me 24/48 hours leaving me with no money. Just an option to walk to a bank 45 minutes away to draw some cash out. Disgusting service to leave a family abroad with no money. Reviewed on: 28th July 2025

Beyond useless!

This card/app is close to useless - it is impossible to sign on without multiple attempts & resetting of passwords. Constantly! Once you actually make it onto the app, it is equally impossible to top the card up. I've completely lost the will to live with it & now I'm finding it equally impossible to cancel. Never again, dreadful customer service

Went to Hedge End, southampton today at 13:30 (06/06) to collect pre paid Euros. The kiosk was without a queue! Amazing. Until I approached the sour faced man behind the counter who happily told me it was closed (not as advertised on the website), whilst he clearly balanced everything up so he could get away well before the end of his shift time at 2pm. i said "so I have to go and find somewhere to wait for 30 minutes until you reopen?" No response. I went to complain at Sainsburys customer service only to be told "its a different company!!" I said but its advertised as 'Sainsbury's' travel money but apparently Sainsbury's Bank isnt anything to do with Sainsburys!!!! Well I returned at 2pm, finally served at 2:05 due to the new person taking 5 minutes to get the system working again. Never again.... Tescos, you have my regular business from now on! You'd get more use out of a chocolate teapot!! Card was blocked and then I got charged an Annual Fee and a Withdrawal Fee. Overseas Call Centre were totally useless and I phoned them 5-6 times. My daughter needed the card for a trip to Japan and I thought it was okay for her to use it. Problem started when she tried to book a Train Ticket on Klook and she couldn't receive an SMS message with an OTP Code (she only had Data Sim). So we switched the Mobile No to mine and I sent her the Code. Then Mastercard decided to block the card, due to her using it. It's not like it was Mastercard's "borrowed" money - it was a pre-loaded card, that they were making a profit on the money. I'm a 35 year customer of Sainsburys and very disappointed. Exchanged £200 for South African Rand had a good exchange rate compared to other money exchange bureau's. Unfortunately our holiday got cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances, took the money back and Adele at the Mere Green Exhange bureau went above and beyond to exchange the money back to sterling at no loss to us. Bought £500 of Mauritian Rupees went on holiday but left them at home and had to buy more at the airport. Returned from holiday tried to convert them back and offered £398 , absolutely disgusting!! Reviewed on: 31st October 2024
