santander are fine...until you actually want something

I've banked with Santander for years, but fact is, I only still do so since I can't be doing with the hassle of changing. They're a safe bank for my money and are fine with an easy to use current account. If you want anything at all - even something as simple as changing a few details - you may as well be asking for the impossible. They are generally unfriendly and inflexible. They have very friendly and knowledgable staff in every branch

I recently went into a Santander branch which I had not previously visited, with the intention of finding out why a certain payment had been refused on my account. I had received a text message to alert me to possible fraudulent activity on my account. The lady on the information counter was very friendly and polite and pointed me in the direction of one of their internal telephones which I was told to use, in the hope I could resolve the matter. I managed to get through straight away and the matter was solved within about 10 minutes. Needless to say, I was very happy with the standard of service I received that day. They didn't want my money!

Easy online banking

Easy to manage multiple online savings accounts attached to one main current account. Only downside is not being able to see pending transactions but at least their banking system doesn't crash unlike competitors. Reviewed on: 20th April 2015

Not bad customer service, but can be a lot better

Santander's customer experience was good; however the bank still needs improvement. Customer Service is not 24/7 and that means that if you lost your debit card in the middle of the night, there is no way to report it missing until the next day. I lost my wallet on the way home on the bus and wanted to cancel the card before someone find it and use the card; however, I was not able to do so until the next morning. Santander will also send the pin to your new debit card via mail instead of allowing you to set this in person at the bank or keep the same pin. Reviewed on: 13th April 2015

I have been with santander for 23 years. They are a good bank which offers a variety of services. I love banking with them because I love how easy it is to access things like online banking and how easy it is to talk to someone about anythin I'm unsure about. In the past 23 years i haven't had any major problems with the bank at all. Reviewed on: 10th April 2015

santander has been my bank for a solid three years now i have a 123 current account the points i would like to make consist of; the account costs me £2.50 a month which isnt alot however i make profit from this because i get cash back on various things such as my electricity bill and i make around £3.40 a month which granted is not alot but better than a kick in the teeth right? the second point i wish to make is that i struggled with their online banking to start with but i just went into my local high street branch and they helped me with everything i needed. Money grabbing with poor customer service

Applied charges pushing me over my limit and said nothing. Was told I needed to check my online banking daily and was my fault. Now in and endless spiral of trying to close the account but they keep adding charges so it's always in overdraft and can't be shut. Reviewed on: 7th February 2015

Great service overall, good customer service. However not as many perks as some banks. :)

I have banked with Santander for around seven years with both a current & savings account. Account terms are fair & the customer service has been consistently good no matter what my concern has been. I find the online banking app to be extremely useful to keep up to date with my finances & transfer my funds between my accounts. My only wish would be for the account to have more perks as I do not have enough to change to the 123 account, it would be nice as a loyal customer to feel more valued like those with a higher income.
