For the past FIVE YEARS, I have been embroiled in a nightmare due to their complete incompetence, dishonesty, and utter disregard for customer service. Meter Mix-Up: A Never-Ending Saga It all started when I moved into my flat and realized that Scottish Power had assigned the wrong meter to my property. This was not my fault but an administrative error on their part. Despite repeated calls, emails, and complaints, they failed time and time again to correct the issue. Each time I spoke to their customer service representatives, I was assured that the issue had been "fixed." Yet, months would pass, and I would still receive bills for someone else’s meter. Every time I explained the situation, I was met with incompetence and excuses. I provided evidence, pictures, and even external verification proving that I was being charged incorrectly. Their response? Empty apologies and more false promises. A False Fix Followed by Unbelievable Retaliation After years of fighting, they finally claimed to have resolved the issue. I thought the nightmare was finally over. But no—Scottish Power found yet another way to make my life miserable. Instead of rectifying their mistake properly, they had the audacity to place derogatory marks on my credit file! Yes, despite their error and years of documented proof, they wrongly marked my credit history, making it appear as though I had defaulted on payments that I did not owe in the first place! This is not just incompetence—it’s downright malicious! The damage to my credit score has been significant, and I am now fighting through the Energy Ombudsman to have these unjust marks removed. The fact that I even have to take this step speaks volumes about Scottish Power’s utter disregard for their customers. Customer Service: A Joke at Best, Deceitful at Worst Scottish Power’s customer service is, without a doubt, the worst I have ever encountered. Their representatives do not listen. They make false promises. They contradict themselves. They take no accountability. They simply do not care. It is clear that they lack the training, knowledge, or even the basic empathy required to handle customers’ concerns. Each time I called, I had to re-explain the situation from scratch, only to be met with another round of incompetence. I have spoken to numerous agents, supervisors, and so-called "escalation teams," and none of them have been able to provide a real solution. Legal Action Should Be Taken Against Them It is absolutely disgraceful that a company of this size is allowed to operate with such blatant disregard for consumer rights. I now have to fight through the Ombudsman to clean up the mess they created, and I will not stop until Scottish Power is held accountable for their gross negligence. Final Verdict: Avoid Scottish Power at All Costs! If you are considering switching to Scottish Power, DO NOT DO IT. They will overcharge you, mismanage your account, and when you try to get things resolved, they will simply make your life even more difficult. There are many energy providers out there—choose literally ANYONE ELSE but Scottish Power. For the sake of your sanity, your finances, and your credit score, steer clear of this disgraceful company! When signing up to ScottishPower's boiler insurance, Scottish Power confirmed to me by email that I am insured. But when I wanted to claim, it turned out that my insurance account was not even set up. They lost my insurance sign-up. It took me approximately 10 emails to their Customer Service, but they constantly refused to assist me. Finally, I got offered a £100 compensation and they assured me: "We will take this on board and make sure that the relevant changes are made to the customer service." This assurance obviously did not get acted upon, because their customer service even worsened from then on. Subsequently, I did not even get any reply at all to 4 out of my 5 emails to Scottish Power's Customer Service. This is a failure rate of 80%. Read more Read less
