Worse customer service ever.

This company is the worst energy provider ever they made us pay £545 for electric I a house that we no longer live in I sent a complaint to them in December and then was pestered by them for full week the end of February threatened with debt collectors and told I was aggressive In the phone when they wouldn’t even let me speak! I haven't had any trouble with Scottish power supplies my gas and electricity, my bill for both gets taken out so don't need to worry about when I enter my meter readings on the 13th of every month, I have ended up with my direct debits coming down Reviewed on: 14th September 2025

They were OK, but rally gone downhill

I have had cover with them for years and all was OK until I moved. We closed the old account, opened a new one. However, have received no confirmation. I meantime called by Scottish Power sales offering me boiler care, however, when explained I think I have cover through them, they then can't help me as I'm a customer, they only deal with new sales. I called D&G who have no record of the nw account, but told me I need to go through Scootish power sales and patch me through. Scottish power sales have no record of my new account (but can find the old one) , but tell me D&G should have put me through to customer services not sales and then cut me off! Needless to say, I'm looking elsewhere for my cover! Reviewed on: 11th April 2025

Scottish Power - Utterly Incompetent and Vindictive! If I could give Scottish Power zero stars, I absolutely would. For the past FIVE YEARS, I have been embroiled in a nightmare due to their complete incompetence, dishonesty, and utter disregard for customer service. Meter Mix-Up: A Never-Ending Saga It all started when I moved into my flat and realized that Scottish Power had assigned the wrong meter to my property. This was not my fault but an administrative error on their part. Despite repeated calls, emails, and complaints, they failed time and time again to correct the issue. Each time I spoke to their customer service representatives, I was assured that the issue had been "fixed." Yet, months would pass, and I would still receive bills for someone else’s meter. Every time I explained the situation, I was met with incompetence and excuses. I provided evidence, pictures, and even external verification proving that I was being charged incorrectly. Their response? Empty apologies and more false promises. A False Fix Followed by Unbelievable Retaliation After years of fighting, they finally claimed to have resolved the issue. I thought the nightmare was finally over. But no—Scottish Power found yet another way to make my life miserable. Instead of rectifying their mistake properly, they had the audacity to place derogatory marks on my credit file! Yes, despite their error and years of documented proof, they wrongly marked my credit history, making it appear as though I had defaulted on payments that I did not owe in the first place! This is not just incompetence—it’s downright malicious! The damage to my credit score has been significant, and I am now fighting through the Energy Ombudsman to have these unjust marks removed. The fact that I even have to take this step speaks volumes about Scottish Power’s utter disregard for their customers. Customer Service: A Joke at Best, Deceitful at Worst Scottish Power’s customer service is, without a doubt, the worst I have ever encountered. Their representatives do not listen. They make false promises. They contradict themselves. They take no accountability. They simply do not care. It is clear that they lack the training, knowledge, or even the basic empathy required to handle customers’ concerns. Each time I called, I had to re-explain the situation from scratch, only to be met with another round of incompetence. I have spoken to numerous agents, supervisors, and so-called "escalation teams," and none of them have been able to provide a real solution. Legal Action Should Be Taken Against Them It is absolutely disgraceful that a company of this size is allowed to operate with such blatant disregard for consumer rights. I now have to fight through the Ombudsman to clean up the mess they created, and I will not stop until Scottish Power is held accountable for their gross negligence. Final Verdict: Avoid Scottish Power at All Costs! If you are considering switching to Scottish Power, DO NOT DO IT. They will overcharge you, mismanage your account, and when you try to get things resolved, they will simply make your life even more difficult. There are many energy providers out there—choose literally ANYONE ELSE but Scottish Power. For the sake of your sanity, your finances, and your credit score, steer clear of this disgraceful company! No Customer Service available !!!

When signing up to ScottishPower's boiler insurance, Scottish Power confirmed to me by email that I am insured. But when I wanted to claim, it turned out that my insurance account was not even set up. They lost my insurance sign-up. It took me approximately 10 emails to their Customer Service, but they constantly refused to assist me. Finally, I got offered a £100 compensation and they assured me: "We will take this on board and make sure that the relevant changes are made to the customer service." This assurance obviously did not get acted upon, because their customer service even worsened from then on. Subsequently, I did not even get any reply at all to 4 out of my 5 emails to Scottish Power's Customer Service. This is a failure rate of 80%. Reviewed on: 8th September 2024

Shocking and dishonest.

Shocking and dishonest. Will use any excuse to rid themselves of a customer that has an older boiler and avoid the cost of contributing to a new one which is the cover I had for years. They only want to cover new boilers under warranty. So what's the point? Reviewed on: 14th March 2024

Appalling service, easily the worst ever. Useless, incompetent, untrustworthy, poor documentation recording. From my experience they would have difficulty boiling a kettle. Multiple problems with them rectifying problems, plumbers unable to resolves issues. Had a fault which was eventually noted and recorded on receipt. Informed part would be ordered, two weeks later I called them and they had no knowledge of the issue, even thou was recorded on my copy of paper work. Was charged for a call out, the cost of the part and boiler developed lack of pressure problem weeks after when heating was used. Pointless insurance Reviewed on: 4th December 2023

Left my 94 yo aunt with faulty boiler and blamed it on her! They're poor and not appropriate for elderly people, find someone else.

After initially diagnosing a change in gas pressure for a fault they finally agreed after a week that it was indeed a fault which they fixed but left the boiler with a broken timer. The engineer blames the 94 yo for it not working. We've had third party conduct regular checks and it is indeed faulty but they just argue with me over the phone so having it repaired by local engineer. Go with someone else, they're not competent.
