We switched to Yorkshire Bank after a 20 year relationship with Barclays that turned sour when we were denied a small, short-term overdraft facility. Yorkshire's sign-up procedure was all very positive and their online services work well but we have had similar problems in accessing finance and a lack of relationship management. We are likely to change supplier this year.

Attempting to set up a business account.
On the face of it this seemed like a really good idea but having weeks later not completed the process I would not recommend this to anyone! The staff on the phone appear very helpful - however it has been a nightmare setting this account up for the following reasons
They took 2 weeks to send through an application
They lost my application even though it was handed in with proof of posting at a post office
I had to go to Picadilly Circus to hand in a second application which wasted 1/2 a day
This still took 2 weeks to process
The account opening letter had a mistake in the account number which I gave to a mortgage company causing a lot of hassle and inconenience
I received am email with another reference on it and wasted 1/2 and hour on the phone until I was told to call business banking on Monday - so the business banking has really limited hours unlike other banks
I was told to make a payment to activate the account and that was returned and failed to activate the account even though it was to the correct account number
When I applied for an account I specifically applied for on-line banking (as otherwise what would be the point of having an account living in London when the branches are in Yorkshire!!!!!!!!!!) I was told that was fine someone would call me. No-one did. I spoke to them several times and now have to fill in a load of new paperwork.
So the whole thing has turned into a joke - only these people are supposed to be entrusted with my money!!

If you want to have a negative effect on your business go near these guys. Absolutely dire service and systems.

Before even considering opening an account I suggest calling theme and waiting through the 20+ minute voice mail, then have a discussion with an employee who has no interest in their job ( it's a common theme).

Capital raising to purchase a nursing home

assisted a Doctor looking to purchase a nursing home. A facility of £150,000 was raised, the applicants would have lost their interest-only rate had they applied to their mortgagee. The process facility was arranged within a very tight timescale.
