Clueless - Zero Customer Focus

As a customer of over 65 years, firstly with the Yorkshire Penny Bank, yesterday I went into the Halifax branch (Virgin Money) for the first time as I wanted some face to face financial support. Why Halifax, because my original branch was closed several years ago and the replacement branch was closed recently. The third branch I was assigned (not Halifax) would be three different bus journeys if I did not have a car. So clearly Zero thought went into that decision as Halifax is nearer to my home. Gone are the days when you knew your Bank Manager. I have for a number of years been named on an account of a not for profit organisation that has to pay monthly banking charges because of the type of account we are forced to have. Several attempts to get these fees waived have been met with no understanding or real sympathy. Again Zero customer focus. Imagine my surprise yesterday when I went into the bank in an effort to deposit some foreign currency into my account, knowing that there would be fees and maybe not a favourable exchange rate, only to be told we don't do currency transactions, this was stopped several months ago. Another indicator that Virgin Money has Zero customer focus. As a major shareholder, Sir Richard Branson, a person who I used to admire would do better focusing on the business rather than space travel. Businesses need to focus on their customer base, in my successful business career we always understood that the customer with the £100 order was as important as the customer with £1,000,000. Loss of customer focus usually means the business will go downhill. Paul H Disgruntled and Dissatisfied Customer Read more Read less

It was an hour, over two calls as the line went dead 40 minutes in on the first, before I was able to speak with someone. Ironically, the team I needed to speak with was called 'Customer First'. Thankfully, Sarah there was very good. She needed to call back the next day and did so. She was really helpful and gave.me all the information I needed. Read more Read less

They have now decided they do not want my business and moved my account to Virgin Money. No reasoning has been given. Their Customer Services used to be OK, if sometimes a little hard to understand with the Scottish accents. They closed my local branch and told me to use another, then closed this and told me to use a 3rd, then just closed this one without telling me! My current and credit card accounts were visible together on the website and app, I now have to have 2 different apps, with different log in details, to see what is happening. I used to ping money direct from my current account to my credit card, I now have to set it up as a separate payee. I seriously doubt this bank will be around much longer. Read more Read less

    Callous & Uncaring Covid-19 Attitude!

I operate a small limited company in the travel/leisure/sports industry and like everyone else was forced to stop taking bookings in March 2020 due to Covid-19. Prior to Covid-19 this was a viable little online business that had operated successfully for over 20 years. During the Covid-19 pandemic our company overdraft (with Yorkshire Bank) has managed to keep pace with our various fixed costs to keep going (bank charges, interest, insurance, hosting, internet, sagepay, overdraft fees etc). Yesterday our Yorkshire Bank account finally reached its £5K limit and the bank are now bouncing all direct debits and standing orders. Over the next few months, if we believe anything our government is saying, business may pick back up again... or crash... who knows? Yesterday, 4th June 2021, I spoke to Yorkshire Bank to see if they would allow my company just £300 per month extra on our overdraft for a couple of months to see if the supposed opening up of the economy and easing of Covid-19 restrictions happens and bookings restart... They wouldn't budge... and are just continuing to pile on their charges whilst bouncing any DD/SO's that would keep my company alive. I told them they will simply collapse the company for the sake of a few hundred pounds, but they wouldn't budge. An uncaring company... now part of Virgin Money... Doesn't deserve 1 Star! Thanks Richard Branson... Read more Read less
