Review of the AA, Breakdown Cover:

Be Careful with AA terms and conditions!

1
Be Careful with AA terms and conditions! Last week I realised my mot had expired by a week, I booked the mot and arranged for my car to be collected on trade plates by the garage, I went to start the car on my driveway and it was just clicking so I phoned the AA to explain but even though the car was on my drive and I have home start they refused to help! I explained I’m disabled and a blue badge holder and I’m unable to fix myself if it is just the battery. I have been with the AA for over 30 years on and off and have only used them twice and that was over 10 years ago. I have now cancelled my membership and will use the RAC as I could have broken down any where and as I can’t walk properly due to my disability i can’t take the risk with the attitude of the AA after my phone call with them. Rubbish company, don't waste your money

1
Absolute joke, got a blow out in the middle of nowhere, Me, the Mrs and dog in the car, tried repair kit but hole to big, phoned The AA, 15 minutes to get through to be told I have to wait up to 6 hours because they are busy, waited for 2 hours and Mrs had to go to the loo in a bush, drove home with a flat tyre, obviously wrecked my wheel, I am a gold member for 21 years until I phone them and cancel, total useless company now, don't waste your money Reviewed on: 5th June 2023

Take your money but don't do their job

1
I paid membership since before Christmas for services including recovery to cover both my bikes. When I hit a fox and broke my wrist last Friday I needed them to recover my bike for me. Drive him two miles home. They refused because I was "involved in an accident". Even though I pay for recovery. They kept trying to fob me off saying they could claim it on my Insurance. Probably think they're clever or something. Useless money grabbers who will take your money but won't do their job the one time you need them! Reviewed on: 3rd June 2023

Quick response

I broke down in the early morning and the AA turned up so quickly and helped me get my car to a garage and explained what the issue was then drove me to work. Great employee and really helpful Reviewed on: 1st June 2023

Overcharged then left abandoned

1
I had AA breakdown cover when my car broke down on the motorway. After calling them, they struggled to find my policy. When they finally did send someone, even though my policy had onward travel I was towed to a petrol station (not even a garage that could help) and left abandoned. No road side assistance, no onward travel. Appalling service and ridiculous prices Reviewed on: 1st June 2023

Avoid at all cost or pay the cost

I have parts and garage cover, plus breakdown my car was attended to by an AA patrol back in April 23 who referred it to an 'approved PRESTIGE' garage. The vehicle was assessed, and it came back with an issue with the rear nearside shock absorber 'supposedly' which is covered. Anyway this part was replaced under warranty. I drove away from the garage and reported the same issue still ongoing. Loud noise to underside of car when driving, both back to the AA and garage. I was fobbed off by the AA's approved garage which is a PRESTIGE garage. I logged a complaint and it was rebooked back into another AA PRESTIGE garage local to me. I was assured if was an issue it would be repaired part of the same original call out, numerous times I was told this! The second garage assessed the car, said it was a weak shock absorber that had just been replaced and the top mount was the issue. Anyway, the saga continues I was then told that the shock absorber couldn't be replaced under warranty at this garage as they are not set up on the system to do so. I was rebooked into a third garage, under the AA PRESTIGE umbrella. The saga is still ongoing, the third garage say it's a weak shock absorber supposedly brand new or second hand that has failed but the problem with the noise first reported in April is a control arm front near side. The AA PRESTIGE group will now not replace the control arm as they say it's a separate issue. All the while the same noise first reported back in April in a breakdown is still ongoing!! So I have a dodgy shock absorber and mount fitted by AA on my vehicle that could collapse any time therefore unsafe and they won't replace either this or the control arm which is apparently according to the third garage is the original problem and noise reported back in April 23. Both parts covered under AA warranty which I paid a lot of money for and have done these past few years. The AA PRESTIGE are happy to install dodgy parts and not honour the warranty insurance I paid for. Mickey mouse companies, if I was you I wouldn't bother with the AA or PRESTIGE if you have to. DEAL WITH THE DEVIL FIRST!! Reviewed on: 23rd May 2023

AA has the rudest Customer Service representatives

1
AA has the rudest Customer Service representatives and unfortunately their Head Office is not any better, they are entitled and very poor listeners. I did not get to choose my AA breakdown cover to start with as it came as part of a financial car loan AA had arranged for me via a third party, no one at AA explained to me the difference between the policies and I was only told that I would have to pay , as an offer , £1 a month on Direct Debit, which I did pay for months, until I received a call from an AA representative whom told me that the offer had come to an end and I now had to pay £ 7.63 a month , again no explanation given on the type of breakdown policy. I since then just paid and never used your services but the only time I needed , then I was treated like I wasn’t even an AA member , where their representatives all they wanted to do was selling me extras and in a rude manner too. I complained to the CEO office and I was told that i had how “bombarded” the AA customer service representatives with questions, like this was so unacceptable of me to ask questions, I believe this is why a client calls a customer centre , surely not to be abused and rudely spoken back. To conclude , I feel that I have not received the polite type of customer service I had signed up for, therefore, I cancelled my membership and chose one of their competitors who will be more transparent with its action and use better manners. Service non-existent but pricing sky high

1
Have been a member for several years with a direct debit renewal and the annual price hikes are breath-taking. Latest renewal £268 and this doesn't even include home cover; literally just road-side and relay. After 40 years, I've had enough of being conned and have cancelled the direct debit and advised the AA that I will not be renewing. Reviewed on: 2nd May 2023

Keep away from AA BREAKDOWN OR INSAURANCE

1
It's hard to know where to start. 13 hours to get recovered - only 70 miles from home. It's less the time issue and more the shocking lack of communication and interest in their customers. A digital communication system that doesn't work properly, huge waiting times on help numbers, disinterested call centre handlers and managers that don't have the bottle to come on the line. Worse still, you are promised one thing - only to find out that is not the case in reality. Many years as loyal family customers to the AA ruined in one day. 'The fourth emergency service' they said - thank goodness it isn't. Make certain you know what to expect before you pass over your money for membership. Reviewed on: 2nd May 2023

Do not use AA

1
Do not use AA breakdown, the service is very poor and unreliable. I've reported a breakdown 8 o'clock pm after 2 hours recovery vehicle showed up which was not the right size to tow my car dispite AA knowing what car I'm driving Reviewed on: 28th April 2023

AVOID

STAY AWAY They will increase your… STAY AWAY They will increase your membership price without informing you, they did that to me. When i called and asked why i have not been informed they only said that they they sent a letter and it's not there problem if i have not received it! They increased my membership from £20 to £36 and was charging me for that until I have noticed. I have also had a breakdown and repairs and garage fees involved, which AA had to cover as it's in my policy, they have not done and refuse to cover, even if i provide invoice.
