A deceitful company

1
After an uneventful year with the aa they sent a renewal quote.. As always it's more than what a can get a new quote for. I chose to ignore it. A little while later my credit card statement came through and the aa had taken a new year's premium. Upon dispute the aa informed me I hadn't unselected auto renew and took £30 pounds admin few. Having looked at another policy from the aa it's clear they do their best to hide the auto renew tick box by disguising the select box in a hidden drop down box. Very devious. Having taking a new policy with AXA their auto renew box was very clear and visible. I won't be using the aa again. Any company hiding such tick boxes should be avoided at all costs. On another note why companies should be allowed to have the auto renew already ticked is something I can not fathom and should change! Reviewed on: 25th July 2024

Poor Customer Service

1
We took out a new policy with the AA. Three weeks later we changed our car for an identical (but new) model; no other details had changed. When I contacted the AA to advise of the change of vehicle I was told that the price of our insurance would increase by 60%. I was advised to go back to a price comparison website to seek a better price. I found a cheaper quote elsewhere but was then told by the AA that the refund on our policy would include a cancellation fee. So my options were to accept a 60% increase on my premium or pay a cancellation fee in order to take up a cheaper policy elsewhere. Reviewed on: 22nd July 2024

My profoundly deaf husband has been trying to cancel his policy. He was told to email he request. No response!!! I am not allowed to do it, even though I am on the policy!! Reviewed on: 3rd July 2024

Haggle to a Best Deal

Straightforward to deal with over the phone, to ensure I always get the best deal and not accept the renewal price. The AA are happy to haggle and sort out my car insurance at a great price for another year Reviewed on: 17th June 2024

Sneaky autorenewal and more than doubling my price

1
AA used to be a brand you could trust. But I have just narrowly avoided having my car insurance premium double automatically and the renewal take place base don one email notification that I nearly missed. It was then pretty tricky to figure out how to get out of it. Additionbally much cheaper quotes elsewhere Reviewed on: 14th May 2024

Check small print immediately you get your policy

1
Got a quote from AA, insisted I had to pay that day even through it though insurance starting 15 days later. Looked at policy details 4 days after start date to find that my husbands name was not on the insurance. When I phoned they told me they had deleted his name as they do not insure people of his age (88) but at no time did they inform and were happy to take the money. My husband was in fact driving without insurance!! Cancellation of policy still cost £30 even though it was within the 14 days. Told me to complain to the ombudsman if I was not happy. Will never deal with them again. Reviewed on: 5th February 2024

Not impressed

1
I had an accident in October which wasn’t my fault-someone hit the back of my car. I assumed AA who I have insurance with, would deal with it all but apparently I was with an Insurance Company through AA. AA were good at organising a curtesy car but that’s about it. I have been passed from pillar to post and am still waiting to get my excess back (if I get it back!). Sorry I’m not impressed Reviewed on: 28th December 2023
