About this product

Find out how genuine customers have found their experience with LittleBox by checking the Admiral LittleBox reviews on Smart Money People.

As a new driver, insurance premiums can be costly. A common way many people reduce the price of their premium is by installing a black box, a telematics device designed to measure how well you drive in order to reward safe drivers. Admiral’s Little Box policy does exactly this.

For new drivers, choosing a telematics policy can be a great way to save money. With Admiral’s LittleBox, safe driving sees you rewarded with a discount on your premium when it comes to renewal. On top of this, Admiral offers free tracking if your car is stolen, as well as regular feedback on your driving, highlighting any areas in which you could improve. If this is something you’re interested in, read our Admiral LittleBox reviews to find out more.

Have you had an Admiral LittleBox policy? Were you satisfied with the feedback that was given regarding your driving? Did you have to make a claim, and if so, how well was it dealt with? When it was time to renew, did you find the discounted price to be reasonable? Whether good or bad, leave an Admiral LittleBox review on Smart Money People today. Review of the Admiral, LittleBox:

I bought this insurance in October for my daughter.

1
I bought this insurance in October for my daughter. The box got fitted towards the end of December. Installer said wait 24 hours and you will receive details for app. We waited a week. Nothing. So I rang and told them. Then after another 3 weeks I rang them again. Still nothing came through. They informed me that the App was no longer in use and I need to contact or be contacted by vodaphone who sort the black box. I told them that it's not up to me to ring around like this. This is their broken system and they need to help me make it work, not the other way around. Anyway it's almost into February....3 months since starting my insurance and still no data. My daughter has no idea how her driving is doing. Looking at all the poor reviews I'm frankly appaulled by what I'm reading and ready to go legal if they try and cancel or mess up my daughter's future with this fiasko. Poor stuff, poor quality, what it seems in picture its totally different what u get Reviewed on: 24th July 2023

I would never Recommend them to anyone

1
To begin, I scratched someone's car (a little scratch and they decided to go through insurance) which made my premiums go up. I was with another black box company at the time with a 96% score. I needed a new car insurance because my previous insurer was a problem and I decided to go with admiral little box paying £222 per month because it was the cheapest for me at the time. I didn't complain about pricing because I knew being a safe driver I would be able to get a 1 year no claims discounts to make my insurance go down. I read through all my documents and was informed If I was to exceed a mileage limit I would be informed to buy extra mileage and If my score went down I would be made to improve which wasn't a problem. A technician came to fit my box within the week and informed my admiral will tell me how to check my score. I never received any email and soon I started driving without checking my score. I'm a safe driver and I haven't had any driving problems apart from my previous claim. I was regularly receiving marketing emails only from admiral so I thought I was okay and never reached out to check my score. After 8 months of driving and four months to a 1 year no claims. I received a letter that If my score doesn't improve improve within 30 days I would be cancelled. I called them and they negated all blame away from themselves and told me to cancel if I cannot meet the score. To conclude they were saying I'm a high risk driver after driving for 8 months without claiming on them. Bare in mind I was trying my best to achieve a 1 year no claims discount. I asked them how can I see my score because anytime I went on their apps and websites it never worked and I was trying my best not to get cancelled. I also check my mileage and realised I have over exceeded my mileage. Even though their terms and conditions states that they will inform me of any mileage changes to They never did but kept on sending marketing emails and refused to take any blame. To prevent my insurance getting cancelled, I drove like a tortoise, put a black box sticker on my car and drove slowly yet I saw no progress with my score going up. I ended up giving up and choosing to find a new insurance. I found an Insurance will to insure me without black box for the first time ever for £207 and currently with them. I do take blame for not contacting them about my score but the moral of the story is avoid them and any other black boxes because they may be cheap but will cost you more if you had just stuck with an insurer who does do black box. Biased and a scam.

1
Scores are consistently low even if the car hasn't been driven in a month. The scoring system is punitive and impossible to get a good score for an average driver. Don't buy this if you need to drive you car Reviewed on: 21st June 2023

Plug & drive is a con

1
Got a very competitive quote from Admiral so went with them, it was marginally cheaper if I used the plug&drive unit , so I did, big mistake. Throughout its use we constantly had scores for ALL 3 metrics above 50/100 and typically 70-80/100, apparently solid green. However the overall score was consistently lower than all 3 metrics, below 50/100 and red! Actual mileage was also exactly as per estimate. So how can that be, Admiral will not disclose how they calculate the overall score and can only suggest driving at different times on different roads, without any clarification if/how this impacts the score. This system is clearly a scam to justify hiking your quote, do not fall for it! Reviewed on: 27th May 2023

Avoid - gives no information on how score is calculated

1
My daughter is consistently getting average or poor scores. There is no information on why this is or how the scores are calculated. The dashboard gives the time and length of each journey - what use is that, she knows that as she was the one driving!!! Customer Service have no better information. The tip on her account advised her not to brake or accelerate so harshly, the customer service rep gave the example that if a dog runs in front of the car and she brakes quickly/hard the score will go down - I suppose she better drive at a constant speed regardless of any hazards in front of her then??? It's completely pointless and doesn't benefit anybody as we won't renew with Admiral so they have lost a customer too. Reviewed on: 10th March 2023

Blackbox feels like a scam

1
Lot's of people advised "if you drive more than twice a day or outside of your home area, it reduces your score". well that's not the case because that's exactly what I do, yet still keep getting "poor" records. Literally my average speed is 9mph, drive 5 miles per day, 2.5miles twice, very close to home (just school runs). Yet it's always "poor". That feels like a scam more than anything as it's obviously impossible to score even average. Reviewed on: 22nd November 2022

Terrible

don’t use this insurance if you have a job, go to school, or leave your house. i get marked down to 0 for having a job more than 5 Miles from my home Reviewed on: 12th November 2022

Terrible system and awful customer services

AVOID Went with admiral little box as competitive price for out 19 year old son , will never insure with them again . Son drives to college/work (approx 32 mile round trip ) 5 days a week but gets a very very low score for when he drives , after numerous calls to customer services we were told its not the time of day he drives it’s because he only does the same journey every day and needs to drive more (he’s an apprentice and can’t afford to just drive for the fun of it ) but he has driven more over the last two weeks to see if it changes his score , it has , it’s made it go down even further and he’s now being told to not make any unnecessary journeys. He can’t win whatever he does. When we speak to customer services they really don’t know what they’re doing. He’s had the box for 4 months and can’t wait for 6 months to be up and admiral ask for it back . He’s already said never again and will be saving up for his increased renewal premium as after this experience he won’t be getting a black box again . Reviewed on: 2nd November 2022

Entirely useless, better to walk everywhere.

1
Very poor system, very delayed and uninformative feedback so difficult to modify driving behaviour. Our daughter was marked down for accelerating/decelerating (tricky to avoid when driving in traffic or on country roads) and we eventually found out for daring to park somewhere else overnight (at school while she was on a school trip). Customer service poor and very tricky to get hold of. Other black box systems from other companies worked very well, so choose them instead. Reviewed on: 15th October 2022
