Review of the Admiral, LittleBox:

Gives little to no freedom and choice with your driving

Admiral little box expects a driver to simply use a car for a commute, nothing more. If you attend college and want to pick up a friend on the way, you will be marked down for taking a longer route If you drive more than 5 miles away from your named home address you will be accused of unnecessary driving If you park in too many different places throughout the day, you will be marked with a bad score?! I spend a long time attempting to correct bad scores, which penalized where I could go and spend time, and today was sent an email telling me that it wasn't good enough and they would like to cancel the insurance. All this despite me driving under all speed limits, braking and accelerating extremely smooth, and some days not even driving the car to keep admiral happy. The way the scores are generated are a manipulation of the customer and simply shouldn't be tolerated therefore I have canceled the insurance and moved to a new provider. I do not recommend this insurance for anyone who plans to drive more than 15-20 minutes per day. Reviewed on: 6th January 2022

Horrible experience with Vodafone Black Box team

Horrible experience with Vodafone Black Box team that lead to me reading their reviews, then cancelling the installation of the black box and paying a higher insurance cost instead, just to avoid dealing with them again. Theu were awful. Admiral were great and reset the policy to the cost without the black box. Reviewed on: 2nd June 2025

!!! DO NOT USE THIS AS AN OPTION !!

DO NOT USE IT!!!! - i HOPE TO SAVE SOME OF YOU HERE! - What will happen is you will get the insurance and in 1 month they will tell you they have to increase the insurance because of driving data. Its not that you will be driving badly, its because they need to report bad driving in order to keep hiking up your premium. When you cancel your premium after realising you fell into the trap - you will be asked to pay another £160 to leave the contract. Reviewed on: 24th March 2025

Having read negative reviews about Littlebox, I had reservations, but my insurance had gone through the roof due to having my car stolen and it offered the best deal. 8 months in, I have a driver rating of excellant - 100. If others are not happy about the scores the are receiving, maybe their driving skills are not as good as they thought they were! Reviewed on: 26th February 2025

Canceled due to email address with other quotes!

I paid 5300 pound for black box insurance but soon get canceled because they claim that I am using a email address with other quotes for my friend. I just search quote online for my friend sometimes and didn't earn any money for this. Go to the hell rubbish company. Reviewed on: 23rd September 2024

Black box lies and cons .

We found this policy on the day he passed and arranged for installation..then found out the ceased to use the app and you have to rely on "their" info on you..you cannot track daily how you do you have to wait for monthly emails and their scoring on how you do..apparently 1star for smoothness ..5 for speed and 2 stars for night driving.. well been the same for 3 months and not been out after 5pm for 3 months and braking for potholes and idiots stepping out on the road (the norm where we live) means it goes against you..as soon as renewal due were leaving ..stay away from this rip off company..£3000 a year without a box .. AVOID ADMIRAL BLACKBOX POLICIES

I was insured with admiral plug and drive, very similar to little box. I am a very smooth and careful driver so was happy to insure my car with a blackbox for a cheaper premium. After being insured for 2 months, i had my first driver feedback: rated POOR! I had 5* speed, 3* time of day, and 1* smoothness! When i called to complain, I was practically told to drive better. I do not accelerate fast or break hard, so this feedback was nonsense. After receiving the feedback, I attempted to the best of my abilities to improvise my “smoothness”. Since this, i have seen no improvement in my smoothness score, and have since CANCELLED my policy. There was nothing more i could do to become a smoother driver, and i was not taking the risk that they would cancel my policy under false pretences! DO NOT get an admiral blackbox policy!!! Absolutely shocking service

It seems the installation is outsourced to Vodafone. When trying to arrange for the fitting, you are pushed from one to the other, and neither knows what they are doing. They had no slots available for over a month, and as a result said I needed to apply to Admiral for an "extension"!. What has that got to do with me?! They have a problem, its not me. I'm fine for the first available date. The box then failed after a few months and they want me to book in maintainance. Exactly the same thing happened. After 25 minutes passed between 6 call handlers they put the phone down on me. Shocker. Reviewed on: 12th March 2024

Lame company

I’ve joined admiral little box as a first time driver never had any complaints about driving badly from friends family driving instructors ect. There is no app you have to wait for a weekly “honest” email and it’s been poor ready to cancel my insurance?? I bought this insurance in October for my daughter.

I bought this insurance in October for my daughter. The box got fitted towards the end of December. Installer said wait 24 hours and you will receive details for app. We waited a week. Nothing. So I rang and told them. Then after another 3 weeks I rang them again. Still nothing came through. They informed me that the App was no longer in use and I need to contact or be contacted by vodaphone who sort the black box. I told them that it's not up to me to ring around like this. This is their broken system and they need to help me make it work, not the other way around. Anyway it's almost into February....3 months since starting my insurance and still no data. My daughter has no idea how her driving is doing. Looking at all the poor reviews I'm frankly appaulled by what I'm reading and ready to go legal if they try and cancel or mess up my daughter's future with this fiasko. Black box policy app useless

Took out black box policy.. fitter fitted after 30 days admiral aware of backlog.. Dec 23. was told I'd get an email and a link to the app. By the fitter and what to look for etc .I am still waiting for this email and we are in Jan 2024 ..phoned customer services to be told the app doesn't work they're getting rid of app and weekly emails to be sent ..so we have to rely on Admirals "honesty" after the fact instead of actual daily readings and easy to view readings.. Hhmmm This is far from acceptable and unuseful for new drivers., they may be driving with caution but with an uncertainty of well is the box working?? Is it faulty.. how will I know etc.. please sort the app out.. Reviewed on: 8th January 2024
