Review of the Autonet Insurance, Insurance Broker:

Shambles

1
Absolutely shocking company. One of the most incompetent companies I have ever dealt with professionally ever. Took me over 2 weeks to try and pay my insurance and still no resolution they say finance company needs payment finance company say they need accept payment. No one has a clue. Absolute Shambles avoid at all costs!!!! Reviewed on: 19th July 2023

Cheap quote then up price

1
Twice in three years have been attracted to cheap online quote. The first time after a month they wrote to me saying I had made a mistake on the online form and I would have to pay more. Wasn't happy but paid up. Following year went elsewhere. This year again back with auto net. And quests what same again. They will charge more saying I had made another mistake on the online form. Phoned customer services. Was told that they had made a mistake but I would have to pay for it. Never again will I use this firm. Beware. Reviewed on: 26th August 2017

Have recently taken out Autonet car insurance and been pleased with the service and price Reviewed on: 16th July 2017

Useless customer service

1
On phone today after I got a good comparison price for auto net. Was put on hold several times for long periods as they wanted to charge me extra for courtesy car and legal expenses even though it came up included in the price online. I was then asked to send a screen shot as proof as they didn't take my word. To then be told they couldn't guarantee a courtesy car if I had a breakdown as there isn't always one available. To then be told if I pay extra £40.00 I could be guaranteed a courtesy car up to 28 days ! I said I have never had this problem with other insurance companies. So was then informed a team leader would phone me ...that was 3.00pm and I am still waiting it is now 11.00pm and my insurance is due tomorrow! Well guess what.. I won't be using Autonet and pleased I stood my ground after reading all the other reviews about this company Reviewed on: 12th July 2017

Scam with hidden fees.

1
Very difficult insurer, will attract you with low premium, then you will pay much more.Don't trust them, unless you want to feel it in your wallet, worse if you find yourself uncovered when police stop you in traffic.Good luck! Reviewed on: 6th March 2017

Avoid like the plague

1
Avoid like the plague! Day 5 still no documents! They take extra premiums from your bank account with no warning then try to say they e mailed you when they havent ( checked junk etc) they then tell you there will be no charge if you send proof of none fault accident then after you do this they still charge you! Shocking rude customer service and if you try to cancel they want £50 despite the fact they have not sent you any documents!! Never have i experienced such shocking service in 27 years of driving! Do yourself a favour and avoid them! Reviewed on: 24th February 2017

Unauthorised use of my credit card

1
This company held on to my credit card details and then took money from my card which was not owed, passed to the fraud team at my credit card company Reviewed on: 18th November 2016

Aviod the as much as you can

1
TRY TO AVOID THEM AS MUCH AS YOU CAN WHEN YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A QUOTE YOU HAVE THE BEST SERVICE BUT WHEN YOU BECOME A CUSTOMER DO NOT EXPECT ANY HELP FROM THEM. YOU WILL SPEND HOURS ON TRYING TO GET SOMEONE FROM THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE TEAM ANSWER YOU CALL. LIFE CHAT IS SAME WASTE OF TIME. AUTONET ARE BROKERS AND IN CASE WHEN YOU HAVE TO MAKE ANY CHANGES TO YOUR POLICY YOU WILL BE RIPPED OFF TWICE, INSURER WILL CHARGE YOU AND AUTONET WILL CHARGE YOU AS WELL. AND IT WORTH TO MENTION THAT IF YOU ARE PAYING FOR YOUR INSURANCE MONTHLY THEIR APR IS !!!!!!!!!!!57%!!!!!!!!! AVID THEM AS THE ONLY THING THAT THEY DO WELL IS SELLING, AFTER SALE IS DONE YOU LEFT ON YOUR OWN. Reviewed on: 15th November 2016

Cheap quotes, extorsionate charges for anything else111

1
I insured a car that I'd paid a deposit on with a private seller. The seller was awaiting a car he had bought, also privately. The chain however fell apart as the car he wanted didn't materialise, so he needed the car he'd provisionally sold to me. Anyway I rang Autonet to cancel my poiicy after only three days and after paying them £28 deposit only to be asked for a further amount of over £22!!! The supervisor I spoke to said it's a standard charge to cover costs as It costs £110 to set up and cancel a policy and they were only asking for £50!!! I said that's not true otherwise how could my classic car policy only cost me £90 a year with a profit for the insurance company? He said he couldn't discuss any other insurance company. He was extremely arrogant and unhelpful. I will never use them again and will make sure anybody that I speak to will never use them either. If they charge these kind of fees for simple tasks imagine what they'd be like if you needed to make a claim. Totally out for what they can get. 5. Ripoff

1
Be very careful with this company, I just cancelled my policy to find there was a £75 charge even after making 6 payments and no claims. How can they justify this? Ripoff is the only thing that springs to mind Reviewed on: 21st September 2016

Poor Service and Hidden Charges

1
They charge and administration fee of 15 for any change or service. these hidden costs can add up in the year and make it cheaper to pay extra for a direct company and not a broker The customer service are not well trained and it took me days to get a chip in the windscreen resolved as they said it was not covered and that it was classed as a new windscreen - I called Aviva myself and checked and they said chip repair was covered with no charge and no affect to no claims - I had to make Autonet call Aviva to confirm this! I strongly recommend you do not use this company. Reviewed on: 22nd August 2016
