Time wasters, poor customer service, on-line system wouldn't work, daily price rises despite quote not yet expired.

1
Autonet came up with the best quotes on Confused.com and go compare, with a clearly stated start date a little way into the future, but when I tried to purchase the price had gone up. I phoned to query this and they said prices go up every day and they had no record of the original quote I had been given, so if you get a quote and don't purchase that same day, then the quote is as good as useless. (I've been advised that leaving a quote request to the last minute can cause higher quotes as they know you are desperate to renew,) So I tried to buy on-line, but their system didn't work, I went through pages of data input but when I clicked on 'buy now' the system just hung, with a wheel turning endlessly. Eventually I got a 'server error' message, so went through the same rigmarole later but got the same result. The next day I waited for hours to get a telephone response, but gave up in the end. I tried later and finally got through and went through the whole procedure again with another price increase, but I declined to provide my first name as being unnecessary for buying insurance, but they would not budge, saying that it was a legal requirement, which it isn't (I have a problem with full name disclosure because I am known by a middle name (in common with Boris Johnson, Paul McCartney and thousands of others), but annoyingly computers persist in addressing me by my never-used first name. I spoke to customer 'service' who were useless. They blamed my system for the server error message and said there was nothing they could do. I gave up having wasted literally hours of my time trying to buy their insurance - they don't deserve customers. How on earth do they get a 4.5 defaqto rating? I eventually insured through another (more expensive) company who didn't even ask for my first name Reviewed on: 20th July 2021

Complete codswallop

1
I would give no stars if that was an option. Lied to and told we had to cancel our insurance 3 weeks before renewal and were unableto offer us alternative cover. Complained, complaint upheld and NCD reinstated. Would rather pay less compensation and offer a new policy back with them - No chance! Insured elsewhere and would not touch this company with a bargepole wearing gloves! Reviewed on: 16th June 2021

Beware Comes Up Cheap on Price Comparison...

1
Came up at a good price on price comparison site but beware like others a few days later I get a call to say I have an undisclosed claim but the insurer they reference has no record of it. They want over £100 more or a £25 fee to cancel within the cooling off period. Even more annoyingly if I add that same 'claim' onto the price comparison site they only then want another £12 a year more. Basically once you sign up you are stuck and they have you. Pay a little bit more and go will a well known and respected brand. Reviewed on: 11th June 2021

Never again

1
Terrible company. Paid my insurance deposit. Got a message to call so after 4 attempts and hanging in for a hour I finally got through. Was told that because I had a no fault accident last year I had to pay double my deposit and premium for the year. So I contacted another couple of insurance companies and it didn’t make any difference to my insurance price as it was a non fault claim. Now they want money out of me for an insurance policy I had for one week. NOT LIKELY. don’t ever buy from Autonet disgraceful company. Customer service is shocking. Talk down to you. Rip off company

1
Paid for no claims protection, had an accident and was quoted over double for my next year’s premium. I asked why they told me no claims discount is just a part of the calculation and because I’ve had a claim the policy still goes up. Went to Admiral, explained all and got cheaper than year before! These scammers need to be closed down by FCA Reviewed on: 27th May 2021

Rip off

Stay away from this firm pay that little bit extra from a proper insurance company , change my car to a new one same manufacture and told can’t insure unless new policy which was 3x more expensive , so said no so got told I’d be charged £50 for cancellation which was not down to me as they can’t insure my new car , even dick Turpin wore a mask , Stay well away from this company Reviewed on: 20th March 2021

Be Careful!

I filled all details of a claim I made 3 years ago when an unknown driver hit my car when parked in the road outside my house when I was looking to renew my insurance. I foolishly paid there and then online then the next day received an email saying they’ve got details of a claim I made 3 years ago, could I ring them to provide details. They said that I said it was a non fault accident but according to my current insurers, it was a my fault accident. I was told insurers say a third party hitting my car and driving off IS MY FAULT! Apparently, if they can’t claim off a third party, then it’s your fault. My quote was £212 but they had to rerun the quote saying the accident was my fault and it came out £112 extra! So I told them to cancel it and give a refund. To add insult to injury, they charged me a £25 administration fee for doing so! Not Happy. Reviewed on: 15th March 2021

BUYER BEWARE

1
BUYER BEWARE - Took out a policy online but realised it wasn't right. Rang over half an hour later and was asked for my reference number. Person said they had to talk to someone and kept me hanging on the line when they came back they said they would not refund money in full but have to charge an administration fee as they now had entered the details on system. I wondered why I was kept holding for so long? They are brokers and do not offer 14 day change of mind that a regulated insurance company would. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM make sure to deal direct with an insurance company. Reviewed on: 23rd February 2021

extortionate renewal quote

1
my first years costs were reasonable at just over £200 for the year, i've made no claims or been subject of any claims, no points or collisions or change in my personal circumstances yet my renewal was £330 for the year. Reviewed on: 18th February 2021
