Have Insurers lost the plot?

My policy is due to be renewed soon but the quote I received has an incease of nearly 40%. When challenged I was immediately offered a discount of £50. However I was able to get slightly better cover through a comparison website at marginally less than I paid last year. The business model is flawed as there is no loyalty to customers rather one of quoting a randomly high premium and seeing if it is noticed. Reviewed on: 6th September 2024

No loyalty shown to existing customers

I am due for renewal and was shocked to see a 67% increase, on top of this I have unfortunately had to add 3 points for speeding which took the policy way off the Richter scale to a 200% increase. I’ve never claimed and in fact felt the guy I spoke to didn’t really care and was not interested in my custom. Suffice to say I will never use this company again. Reviewed on: 3rd October 2023

Crash die to ice ,very scary

Had a crash with my little panda ,caused by black ice on country road during the day ,crashed in high ditch ,bounced off it did a full circle in road and faced opposite side of road .informed Churchill next day as shocked the day it happened ,that was a week ago ,car since been collected to their repair centre 45 miles away ,left with no replacement ,have a job ,child to school ,hospital appointments ,single mum ,still in shock with crash ,I would say minor damage not an expert ,car bumper cracked ,crash bar bent ,number plate unreadable .but over a wk and half later to be told my wee car maybe a write off .waited 40 mins on phone to Churchill and numerous messages to repair company ,just keep bouncing back and forth saying they are waiting for each other .angry ,frustrated . Terrible phone service and poor communication

I had a car accident and called Churchill to submit a claim, during this process I was hung up on twice with the person I was speaking to. In the end I used another service to pick my car up and submitted the claim online. When it became apparent my car was a write off I waited the time they said for the money to be paid into my account. When this period of time came and went I called churchill (taking close to 45 minutes to speak to someone) and the person I spoke to said it had not been submitted to finance as they did not know who was the owner of the car. This was shocking to me as 1. when I last spoke to someone on the phone they said they had all the information they needed to be able to process the payment 2. if they needed information from me, why did they wait for me to call, why did they not get in contact with me. I also asked for confirmation by email that we had the conversation and that the payment was being processed. I am yet to receive any confirmation. All this is very infuriating at need the money to be able to buy another car, which is essential for me to do my job. I definitely will not be renewing with churchill insurance once I am at the end of my contract. Reviewed on: 8th August 2022

Terrible customer service

When trying to make changes online website continually crashes saying “something went wrong! We are working on this” leaving no option but to call customer services (never respond to emails, even when you directly email the person dealing with your claim) so….. call customer services and wait an eternity just to speak to someone who says they will call you back but never do. Waste of time, won’t be renewing with Churchill. Reviewed on: 6th August 2022

Long Wait Times and Unacceptable Extra Fees

Tried to cancel my policy online but it wasn't allowed. Had to call them to cancel. Waited 38 minutes on hold. Got through and cancelled my policy for a £53.76 admin fee. The total call length with the representative was 2 minutes and 16 seconds. A huge waste of time and money for a simple task. Wouldn't recommend or choose again. Reviewed on: 23rd July 2022

No help when car written off

6 months no car

Paid for insurance for 6 months without a car even though the accident wasn't my fault. No courtesy car, no communication as to investigation, just took my money and refused to freeze the insurance. Reviewed on: 21st July 2018

7 months and counting and still no closure on accident claim

I was involved in an incident whereby a van carrying a trailer had knocked into the side of my car, causing damage to the side of the vehicle. Unfortunately there were no independent witnesses so understandably, Churchill advisers had advised me to access a 50:50 liability split which I begrudgingly accepted (other driver did not accept liability). Fast forward 7 months from the incident, there has still been no closure despite 7 months of chasing up Churchill to chase up the other parties representatives. Churchill have had no pro activity in this case, and any progress made has been as a result of myself chasing Churchill. Each time I connect through with them, they tell me it's because they've been 'very busy' which explains why no one has made progress with the settlement. Disappointing, I hope no one else receives this type of service. I for one will not been tempted by their low prices again, its worth paying a little bit extra for better customer care.
