Car insurance renewal up 31% with no change of circumstance. Simply wrong!

Car insurance renewal up 31% on last year's premium. Nothing has changed apart from non claims up 1 year from 10 to 11 years. I called Churchill about this but the operative could not explain why. Disgraceful when RPI is 1.19% and many of use have not been driving during lockdown etc. so claims must be down. I thought this practice of heavy renewal uplifts that penalise loyalty had stopped - clearly not.

They took my car for repair front end to Nationwide Repairs which was fine (accident was my/my wife's fault). After getting the car back and hearing some banging noise from the front I opened up the hood and realised the engine mount was broken. I reported to the garage, they instantly booked the car back and collected it for inspection. Later I got a call saying that the estimator guy told them that it is too far at the back and couldn't have happen during the accident (the whole front bumber and crach cans were changed). So obviously wasn't a "small" shock there. We are talking about a 2 years old car and a fresh shiny engine mount brakage. Totally dissapointed and angry.

Worst company ever

This is very bad company. Charging ridiculously high fee when you cancel policy due to selling your car. I have never experience this. Its very hard to actually in touch with them. Will never insure anything with them.

Car insurance policy cancelled with no notice

My brother had car insurance with Churchill. Two months after starting the Policy, Churchill sent him a letter threatening to cancel his policy with three working days notice , due to an innocent error when completing the application. My brother has...

My brother had car insurance with Churchill. Two months after starting the Policy, Churchill sent him a letter threatening to cancel his policy with three working days notice , due to an innocent error when completing the application. My brother has been unable to receive the letter due to contracting covid19 and being at his parents address during lockdown. Churchill made no attempt to contact him in another way before cancelling his policy...despite having his telephone number and email address. He was informed that his policy was cancelled by a police officer who issued him with 6 points on his licence. To add insult to injury, when my brother contacted Churchill, they refused to engage with him on the matter and gave him a complaints procedure that he was told would take approx 6 weeks. In the meanwhile, due to cancelled policy (with no notice received), he is unable to get another insurance policy and therefore unable to work. Thanks Churchill.

Reliable and Affordable

Previously, I have had to switch every year to get a deal, however Churchill have retained me for several years now by offering reasonable quotes which I either haven't been able to beat elsewhere, or wasn't worth the hassle for a couple of quid.

I sold my car, so I cancelled the policy. Churchill charged me for the rest of the policy -- another 6 months. This is unreasonable, especially as customers who pay annually receive a refund if they cancel. I wrote to complain and have had no response...

I sold my car, so I cancelled the policy. Churchill charged me for the rest of the policy -- another 6 months. This is unreasonable, especially as customers who pay annually receive a refund if they cancel. I wrote to complain and have had no response in 3 months. Churchill sent the debt collectors after me. Not Impressed.
