Negotiated a great deal on renewal

I received my renewal which was about £12 dear than last year. So I went on a comparison site then phoned Churchill. In the end I managed to save over £40 compared with the previous year. Just £176 on a Mercedes SL320 convertible for 12 months.

Shocking call centre agents.

Churchill Direct are terrible. It took three calls to get a recovery truck after my car was in accident. It took a further week for an engineer to visit my car before repairs could begin and the service agents were not great either. Avoid Direct Line... Read more

Churchill Direct are terrible. It took three calls to get a recovery truck after my car was in accident. It took a further week for an engineer to visit my car before repairs could begin and the service agents were not great either. Avoid Direct Line or Churchill. Churchill also left my father in law broken down despite his roadside assistance with Churchill for 2.5 hours on a main London motorway.

Absolute scam, I called up in may to cancel my policy because the car didn't work and I planned on scrapping it. Whoever I spoke to did not do their job. I came back to Churchill with my new car, they didn't mention that I still had a policy open with them. A month later I have two lots of money coming out of my account from them. They won't refund because of their incompetent staff showed no record of cancelling way back in may.

Where are my documents?

Payment was taken 20/05/21 but 10 days later I have still not received my policy documents. When I try and call, I only get to speak to some agents who is incapable of doing anything worthwhile.

They charged me for everything... charging me £53 when my policy was expiring next month, £13 pounds to change an address online. Absolutely ridiculous, especially when I have done the same with my other car (insured with AXA, everything for free)!! W... Read more

Absolutely ridiculous, especially when I have done the same with my other car (insured with AXA, everything for free)!! Worst insurance ever and I will never go through Churchill again!

Absolutely dreadful, cancelled my policy due to one missed historical payment. Took the most recent payment so I assumed I was covered. Turns out I wasn’t, 6 points on my driving licence from a random stop. They sent a letter to confirm cancellation. I didn’t get it because I was away for work. No phone call or email to chase, or warn that I would be uncovered. I was driving for two weeks without insurance. Very glad I didn’t have an incident in that time. The customer service were appalling and didn’t care. Wouldn’t reinstate the policy either. Avoid this shower of insurance excrement.

Car insurance renewal up 31% on last year's premium. Nothing has changed apart from non claims up 1 year from 10 to 11 years. I called Churchill about this but the operative could not explain why. Disgraceful when RPI is 1.19% and many of use have not been driving during lockdown etc. so claims must be down. I thought this practice of heavy renewal uplifts that penalise loyalty had stopped - clearly not.

They took my car for repair front end to Nationwide Repairs which was fine (accident was my/my wife's fault). After getting the car back and hearing some banging noise from the front I opened up the hood and realised the engine mount was broken. I reported to the garage, they instantly booked the car back and collected it for inspection. Later I got a call saying that the estimator guy told them that it is too far at the back and couldn't have happen during the accident (the whole front bumber and crach cans were changed). So obviously wasn't a "small" shock there. We are talking about a 2 years old car and a fresh shiny engine mount brakage. Totally dissapointed and angry.
