Savings for good - slow but steady!

The Ecology Building means savings are invested in positive change- although it’s definitely ‘slow banking’ over things like withdrawals, changing address, paper statements etc, this is a positive thing for me - my savings stay earning interest because I can’t quickly dip into them ! It takes 1-2 days. Customer service on the phone is good - they arranged an end of day Faster Payment when it was flagged for security, within 2hrs for house move. Good interest rates, only improvement is an app which is coming soon! Reviewed on: 29th November 2024

Solid and Principled

I have saved with the Ecology for over 40 years which I think is testimony in it self. They have always been ahead of the curve in their ethical based principles, ways of working and the promotion of sustainable living. No purple prose in their financial product, just clear solid helpful information. I have absolute trust in the Ecology BS. Reviewed on: 7th April 2021

Easy to deal with but not the most competitive

Easy building society to deal with on a day to day basis but very quick to drop the interest rates - statements through in the post is a bonus though and online system is decent. Reviewed on: 7th April 2021

Genuine decent straight-talking customer service

I have been saving with Ecology for years and always found them consistently helpful, straightforward and skilled - unlike other banks which have been consumed by the profit motive. As a new customer, the process was refreshingly straightforward.

Even before becoming a customer, the contact details were clearly marked and a simple phone call to Ecology answered my questions. The other winning factor, was that I could set up a savings account for my grandson, something that another ethical bank couldn't do. Reviewed on: 7th April 2021

An outstanding ethical product with a strongly people centred approach

Ecology Building Society uses our savings to create positive impact for people and the environment - and they live their values from their sustainable office building, to staff growing food in their garden, right down to impeccable customer service so that I know we are seen as part of their team! Their newsletter is informative and keeps me up to date, and our savings are secure and valued. I think this is a winning business and I recommend them regularly to friends and family. Friendly, ethical and efficient

I save with the Ecology Building Society as they combine effortlessly and efficiently a bank that is rooted in principles and ways of working that are important for me and essential for our society with a friendly and efficient savings service. Ethical company, ethical products, human service

The main things is that I know what my money is being used for, and it only supports sustainable lending and property. I like the ethos of the ecology which permeates everything they do, not least their amazing head office building. Transparent, ethical, sustainable banking institutions should be the only option!
