Review of the HSBC, Bank Account:

Awful

1
They've closed so many branches and their call centre is often busy. For some reason they've lately taken to suspending my debit card for suspicious activity every few weeks, even though my use of the card is no different from normal. I confirm mundane transactions I've made for small amounts and they lift the suspension again and can't provide me with an explanation of why the activity is deemed suspicious. They've done this twice while I've been in Norway, despite me notifying them in advance the exact days I would be there and using my debit card. I get about seven or eight pieces of junk post from them each month even though I've expressly requested they stop sending it. They've somehow "lost" two standing orders that I'd had running for ages and had set up myself online. They lied about a boost in the ISA savings rate in order to upsell me to a paid current account and admitted two months later I wasn't eligible for the higher interest rate for some nonsense loophole reason that isn't in the terms and it took me a fight to get the money back when I switched back to a free current account. They're just generally shocking really and that's before you factor in the ethical questions of some of their practices both in the UK and worldwide. Terrible, terrible bank. Horrible service and horrible management.

Horrible service and horrible management. They don't know what they're doing and are a dreadful business. I worked here and can say there systems are slow and unreliable, management believe staff members are replacement so they'll keep hiring new people and stop training the old ones. This is one of the reasons why customers have issues because most of there staff members are new. They don't value staff nor do they value customers, there have been more and more complaints and they refuse to change their systems or the way they run things, staff turnover is the highest. DO NOT BANK WITH HSBC AND DO NOT WORK FOR HSBC. Reviewed on: 27th February 2024

HSBC, good but lacks options...

4
Overall, HSBC are a decent bank with generally quick and good customer service. The area it lacks the most is it's accounts, they aren't competitive and don't provide decent interest rates. The app is really easy to use and handy to see all your accounts in one place... Unless you've had to move elsewhere for better rates. GIA account is nice and simple and gives great options for investors of all levels. Reviewed on: 22nd February 2024

I started to use HSBC Global Account especially when I am abroad because of the good exchange rates. No need to exchange and carry cash with you, just use your Global account debit card. Reviewed on: 18th February 2024
