Disgusted my policy has doubled

Disgusted my pet insurance has doubled after being a loyal customer I have been a customer for 3 years and have struggled each year to keep the price down ...but this year its doubled and I have never claimed .I have the premier cover and feel that I am being totally ripped off .and the customer service team who told me it would be cheaper to go on line and buy it as a new policy should be ashamed why carnt you look after your customers who dearly love there pets but refuse to be ripped off . Very poor product and customer service from John Lewis

As a loyal John Lewis customer we were really disappointed by their pet insurance. The price seemed good but it turns out they are unwilling to pay out for claims, and use any excuse to avoid it. Communication is awful and slow too, and I've wasted ours trying to make a perfectly legitimate claim. No where near the standard of other pet insurance we've used. Really disappointed in this service from John Lewis. Reviewed on: 19th August 2024

70% increase from last year despite NO CLAIMS.

4 year old Border Collie. No claims. Healthy and active. JL has just increased my premium by 70%. Absolutely furious about such an unwarranted hike. The industry should be monitored and increases capped when NO CLAIMS have been made. Reviewed on: 29th May 2024

Dick Turpin is now selling pet Insurance !

At renewal John Lewis have more than DOUBLED my pet insurance for my little cat wanting over £600 for the year. I had one claim for £85 so expected a small increase but this is daylight robbery. In fact I suggested they now take to standing by the road in a mask, brandishing a pair of pistols. I have told them to cancel my policy at renewal and I’ll just pay as and when Oscar needs medical care. Absolute money grabbing charlatans ! Reviewed on: 19th March 2024

At renewal they double the price, i have not made one claim and the dog is not even 2 years old. Its a total con reel you in with a reasonable price and double it at renewal. So next year with no claims i would be probably paying £100 a months if this year is anything to go by. Disgusting with john lewis putting their trusted name to this Reviewed on: 23rd February 2024

Accused me of Fraud - very rude - avoid at all costs!

I took out pet insurance for my kitten and a couple of days later she broke her leg. I paid upfront for all the vet costs and then claimed on my insurance. John Lewis's underwriters then told me they needed to do an investigation, 4 months later phoned me while I was very busy at work. The lady on the phone was extremely rude and told me she wasn't happy with what I told her and that she thought I had deliberately tried to Defraud them. I then got a letter 2 weeks later telling me I had committed Fraud and they were cancelling my policy with zero refunds. Not a good company at all. Heaven forbid you actually need to make a claim not long after you take out your policy! Reviewed on: 22nd February 2024

John Lewis premium increase rip off

We have just received JLewis renewal notice and the premium to pay has increased by over 72%.From £409.54 to £706.46 ! And this is for ONE healthy dog, a miniature schnauzer, with no claims whatever since we started health insurance about 7 years ago. She is just 8 and healthy, a member of our local vet's healthy club, (which we also pay for) in a healthy and safe part of the UK, lives well, inside and inside our large garden, is walked 3x per day, and is even given health supplements, and is very fast and fit. Both of us are home all day and she is looked after very well. Never again - we have spent perhaps over £3000 on her insurance, with not a penny claimed so we will now open a bank account, with a direct debit and insure our dog ourselves. It seems that once your dog is 9 or 10 premiums increase almost exponentially - and clearly John Lewis is no exception here. Realise the group is in a financial mess, but why punish those paying in insurance and getting nothing back. A total rip off - wish I could mark less than ONE star! Reviewed on: 16th January 2024

My renewal has increased my annual payment from £457 to £811 in 1 year. That is gross profiteering not due to cats age or any other differences in a year. It stinks Reviewed on: 11th January 2024

JOHN Lewis - Do not pay out on claims

Really poor service and really disappointed with this insurer. Underwritten by Royal Sun alliance. Did not pay out a penny of a claim I made after emergency trip to the animal hospital as advised by the John Lewis veterinary nurse. Reviewed on: 19th December 2023
