Future of Banking

After passing a new bank been opened promoting late night and 7 days opening I looked further into them and opened a basic Savings account. After excellent service and every interaction been so good I switched all my banking to them. They really are what banks used to be I.e. Friendly, helpful, caring and available. I really hope they do well and shake up the banking system as they are not for real people anymore they are all based on apps, online transactions supported by mediocre call centre staff and opening times that don't reflect the rest of any other businesses. Worst banking experience ever!

Had my account blocked by metro for no reason, can't access money, can't pay direct debits due. Need to send in all sorts of paperwork to confirm normal everyday transactions. Customer service totally unhelpful. Now left with no money to pay bills indefinitely while they 'look into this' and they can't even tell me how long this will take. Very disappointing and not uncommon for this bank going by other reviews I've read with people having the same problem. Reviewed on: 3rd April 2019

Unprofessional

Metro Bank, without explanation or notice, froze my account completely when I tried to make a transfer. I have never had this situation before with any other bank, they wanted to know the nature of the initial deposits into the account made over a month ago which I only found out after ringing them. Had to make numerous calls over several days to resolve the matter, in most cases their responses were inconsistent, some staff totally immature, inexperienced and unprofessional. Had to obtain advice from the financial ombudsman and also reported to the financial conduct authority. There are several examples online of Metro Bank doing the same to other customers. The bank never put anything in writing, no updates or calls. They only lifted the restriction on my account after I threatened to sue. This bank gave me week of misery and undue stress, I am glad I have now switched to HSBC. In summary, Metro Bank very poor service and far from professional compared to high street banks.
