I wish I could give a review with no stars. This company is the modern day equivalent of highway robbery. DO NOT USE THEM, PAY THE EXTRA AND GO ELSEWHERE.
Read most other reviews and they say the same thing.
I took out insurance on my car(I'm 52) with my son as a named driver so he could get some experience before he gets his own car(he's 18). I paid an initial payment of £580 with monthly instalments of £98(not 100% on the figures), I had made a mistake with regards my no claims so they adjusted the cost by £300 to a monthly sum up to £130. Last night I got the dreaded email off them...."YOUR INSURANCE HAS BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO EXCESS SPEED". I rang them this morning and indeed I had sped, 81mph in a 50(no excuse for that) but it was just one minor indiscretion on a road that is probably 1 mile long, if it was a regular thing then fair enough, but once....so I phoned them up, absolutely no give with them at all, so now due to one offence my insurance is cancelled and I now have to declare when I try to buy new insurance that I have had insurance refused or cancelled which no doubt will increase the premiums when I go to an honest insurance company. So this months insurance has cost me £580 plus all the other charges they are bound to add on plus £85 to have the Telematics box removed, and I'll bet you a months premium that they will take the second months premium out of my bank before i get there to cancel the standing order. BUNCH OF THIEVES.

** AVOID ** Do yourselves a favour & look elsewhere, insurance cancelled due to a modification, a 2ml stripe on front & back bumper, that hadn't crossed my mind as being a mod has I hadn't noticed it !! if u are informed ur policy is being cancelled, cancel the policy yourself before the 7 days is up, then you won't loose all ur deposit & u haven't got to declare to having a policy cancelled.

So now it's Monday and we emailed MORE THAN last Wednesday regarding faulty readings from their digital box. They have still not got in touch. MORE THAN are falsely accusing my son of driving 100mph on Wednesday at 9am. When in actual fact, my son's car was stationary parked at his works car park at 8.45am and he was in the workshop working on a customer's vehicle. He has his manager and work colleagues to verify and withness this. However MORE THAN have sent a letter stating that they will end his contract in 48 hours without checking the device and will keep his money. Totally unfair and unjust Criminal. My son is only 19 years old and has been saving for over three years to afford to pay for his car and insurance. He has paid MORE THAN the full fee of £2400. They will not refund him the money. Which means He can't afford to pay for insurance elsewhere. He requires the car to get to work. Without Insurance he can't drive to work. Because of MORE THAN this young kid and his career is well suffer. Absolutely disgusting MORE THAN

YOUNG DRIVERS WATCH OUT.. AVOID MORE THAN CAR INSURANCE AT ALL COSTS

I received an email from More Than stating that i was driving at 100mph on 26/9/17 at 9:02 am

I proceeded to call them and explained to them that this was not possible for many reasons, yet I am still being told that even thought the problem could be a fault with my box.. my insurance will be cancelled and I will lose the amount of money I paid for my policy. This is ridiculous! I have since found out that this is something More Than is known for doing to young drivers like me.. an easy way to take our money and SCAM us out of our car insurance. We are easy targets, as we are young and will not put up a fight as we do not have the experience.. However I will not let this go without defending myself and proving that More Than are simply taking advantage of me and many others like me.

I am 19 and just started driving. I thought More Than Smart Wheels seemed a reasonable price (although every company was a similar price) and I didn't mind the idea of a black box, as I know I drive responsibly - if I didn't I wouldn't have passed the practical test and pass plus. Now just to clarify, when i say 'reasonable price' I do not mean a few hundred pounds.. We are talking over £2000.. just for car insurance alone! At my age working as an apprentice this is a hell of a lot of money and something i have saved up for for a long time. I would not risk throwing it all away just to speed knowing full well I have a black box and WILL be caught, all within a month of purchasing my insurance - yet this is what I am being accused of.

There are several instances where More Than have given me an incorrect score on the app, for example once when i was driving down the road to the shop, they minused 3 points from me for speeding when I definitely was not speeding. The main incident is them accusing me of driving at 100mph down the M60 at 9am. Now lets break this down and explain why this is not only UNTRUE, yet IMPOSSIBLE:

- At 9 am I was currently at work and my car was stationary in the car park. I have managers and work colleagues that can collaborate this
- Between 7am and 9am the M60 is practically gridlocked.. It is extremely difficult to even do 20mph on most days let alone anywhere near 70-100mph!
- There are average speed cameras and the limit is 50mph - if i was speeding at 100mph surely a camera must have caught me. They are average speed cameras after all

I was given no prior warnings and have been an excellent driver since i got my insurance. I have had this insurance for less than a month and as i mentioned earlier would not drive so recklessly and risk jeopardizing it. It used to take me hours to travel to work by bus and so this is something i appreciate very much.

I spent over 1 hour on the phone already and was simply put down and accused again and again of something that is nothing more than an error on YOUR SYSTEM. If you have faulty machines why are you not solving that problem instead of blaming innocent drivers? Or is this just a scam and now MORE THAN you have been caught???

If you are thinking of insuring with this Company ... DONT !! A total rip off from start to finish and without doubt the worst customer service I have ever coe across....You will pay an extortionate amount for extra miles and there is NO reward for safe driving. My sons 12 months has come to an end and he has paid 3 times the amount quoted. You will also receive many threatening letters and emails about cancelling your policy etc etc. Nothing more than a scam to rip off young drivers. DO NOT TAKE OUT INSURANCE WITH THIS COMPANY !

I switched to More Than following a better quote than my existing car insurance. I admitted a recent claim - this being for a stone chipped windscreen during the previous year. The screen was repaired but this proved unsatisfactory so as requested by the windscreen firm, I contacted them again and they did as promised and replaced the screen. I reported this as a single claim. However sadly it had been reported as two claims in error by the previous insurer. More Than told me I had misled them. I explained the situation. They saw fit to demand further money despite my explanation and then withdrew my insurance. This left my car uninsured.
It took three months before I received a letter setting the facts out and reinstating my insurance, and also stating that I was in no way duty bound to admit withdrawal of insurance in future car insurance applications.
The offshore customer relations were just appalling. There was a profound lack of listening and understanding and all this confounded by a language barrier. The only way I was able to get anywhere was to insist on speaking to a higher authority - something which I do not find comes naturally to me. Never again!

I switched to More Than since their quote was cheaper than my existing car insurance. During the previous year I had a stone chip in my windscreen. It was initially repaired but later had to be replaced. I stated I had made a claim when switching to More Than. However although this was all bound up in a single claim they saw it as two separate claims - it had been recorded in error as such by the previous insurer. More Than failed to listen - partly obscured by language barriers (Offshore call centre) and finally withdrew my insurance. It took three months for them to write a letter of apology and reinstate my insurance stating that this withdrawal need not be mentioned in future insurance applications! During this three months my car was uninsured and therefore off road! Fortunately I had another car so was able to keep working.

Shame you dont have a minus score like their telemetric box system. I cant believe they get away with this legalised robbery. The insurance is for my daughter and in her name. Already paid £1300 now need another £810 so she can go to University because of her milage. She did a 60 mile journey on the 12 August that is not even on the website list of journeys. When her car has been parked she is shown to be driving. We cannot make any sense of the readings that they show despite their reasoning for the scores. A licence to print money I am going to The insurance Ombudsman as this needs looking into.

This is worst insurance company to date , they are absolutely money grabbing thieves who can only subject to lying to me on the phone today, so today I received a letter to say my insurance has been cancelled and I owe £152 pound which is bizarre since I have never missed an payment and they already took my payment on the 21 of July , I doubled checked this on my online banking I then give them a call to see why , they began to explain its because I have rang out of mileage and I have topped it up , for one they haven't even contacted to say I have for me to do anything about it and the absolute joke of it my insurance got called on the 29th of July so I have been driving without insurance since today I was absolutley fumming so she got a manager to ring who I cannot not call a an manager as he was beyond a joke he couldn't even tell me why I have been charged 152 pound only thing he said you must pay this !! Without knowing what the hell its for. It states in my policy argeement I would should recieve a letter regarding a 7 day notice of cancellation where has this letter gone because it hasn't come to my address you lieing twats ! And now have robbed me for my no claims and my deposit and now want to charge me 152 I warn everyone please please do not go with this company they will bleed you dry and lie to you . Imagine if you needed to make a claim I very much doubt you would get paid out , ingenie so much better I wish I would pay they extra 20 pound a month to save me this hassle

I cannot stress enough the importance of not going with More Than insurance! My experience with them was awful and the lack of communication on their behalf has resulted in my insurance with them being cancelled however I believe it may have been a silver lining because I do not want to commit to a company who are as incompetent as this one. The policy which I agreed to meant I was required to have a black box fitted into my car, which I had no problems with, I had a black box with my previous company due to me being a young driver. Not only did they fail to notify me when the individual was coming to fit the black box into my car but they also failed to get in contact with me to rearrange my appointment which I inevitably missed due to them failing to inform me. I waited for any kind of communication from them and received nothing however they didn't fail to send me an email confirming my cancellation of my policy because of my lack of a black box for more than two weeks of being with them. I am shocked that being with a company such as this for two weeks now results in me having to confirm to any new insurances that I have in fact had a policy cancelled previously which could affect the prices of any policies I have in the future. I am incredibly disappointed with the level of customer service I received and the complete disregard of my concerns which I brought to their attention. This has been an unacceptable experience and I urge that no one makes the same mistake I did

I have been with More THAN 6 years now starting with pet insurance and finding them second to none in this field i.e. quality of service, value for money, sensitivity at stressful times, to mention but a few, I now have my cars, house/contents insured by them and I am sure that I would also have my Boat insured with them if they provided Marine Insurance, as I am sure they would be as competitive in this field as in all the others they currently provide.
I always compare renewal quotes and it says something that not only am I still with them but have all my other insurance needs provided by them. I continue to recommend them to friends and acquaintances based on my experiences and glad that I followed up on my niece's original recommendation some years ago.

From the start this insurance has been the worst, totally ruined my first years experience in driving having to watch my miles all the time, getting a bad score for hitting a pot hole or using my car when I want, whenever I would call to complain the customer service was just crap apparently 30.1 is speeding to them when legally to be stopped it's 33 mph, I've recently just been in a car accident and I'm still getting emailed about buying more miles ect, maybe they should check the person still has their car before they start pestering for more money as if £230 a month isn't enough.

My daughter is half way through her secoand year with More Than and as a parent it's superb. We can check her driving score and each time she gets a minus score she is very interested to find out where she went wrong. Any parent that is upset that heir child has had their insurance cancelled due to speed etc must be getting fibbed to by their offspring.
Our daughter goes off to uni ( only 30 miles) and we ask her to txt when she gets their - more often than not, she forgets. No probs for us because we can use the app to see exactly where her car is parked. I think the black box is superb and she gets her rewards because she earns them with her good driving.
Cheaper insurance and peace of mind - perfect.
